Elden Ring - From Software + George RR Martin

Im kind of worried considering Im pretty awful at Demons Souls lol. How much credit does George R. R. Martin get for this? He is already known as the author of one of the most successful TV show ips ever (the part based on his material) is he going to add the best video game writer as well? Or was he not involved to that extent?

I'm expecting it to be simultaneously the hardest Souls game AND the most accessible Souls game. What I mean is that I suspect the main quest's difficulty curve will be lighter than the other Souls games to allow more people time to git gud, while the optional stuff (which will probably be like 60% of the game) will be full of real tests for people who have done it all.

So the best of both worlds, essentially.

Personally I don't care how hard the game is. I find whatever avenues I can to get through these, so nothing Souls-related scares me. Except Lud and Zallen and the run back to them, never doing that again.

I do hope that ER is accessible so that From can gain even more fans and introduce more people to this series so that the next game can be even more popular. More likely than not, they've managed to strike that balance without gimping the challenge that Souls vets are expecting.

George created the world, and the major characters, and obviously the concept of the Elden Ring itself. The actions said characters are taking during the time we play the game, is all Fromsoft. But the concept of the Elden Ring being shattered and Queen Marika and her children ruling the Lands Between is him. Miyazaki even joked, that they were taking George's world, and seeing how they could pervert it into a typical Souls style tragedy.

On a random note, I have been binging review videos all day. From what every single reviewer has said, the game is enormous, and I have no idea how the people who like contributing to Fextralife are going to handle this one. It will probably be months for every secret to be found and documented.

Someone mentioned the old Kings Field games? I loved those back in like ps1/2 days. But I became PC master race and never have owned an Xbox or PS past 2. Never played Dark souls either due to thinking they were xbox onlies. (Shame! Shame!)

Just bought the damn thing on steam. hope it is fun.

What class are you all starting as? I was set on astrologist but then I listened to a spoiler free review from Fightincowboy today and he talked about spells being really uneven. Some are great but a lot were meh and that they were really hard to use if close range, which is a lot of fights. Now I’m second guessing it and might go some sort of a spell/sword hybrid but not sure which class that would be.

This is why starting naked is the way. You just find shit and try it and use what you end up liking instead of not trying other stuff and regretting your choice and rerolling. In a game this big, starting a little slower isn’t a big deal in the grand scheme.

Yeah pretty much that. Before class-based games drop there tends to be a lot of hand-wringing and fretting about what class to play because people don't really have anything else to "work on" until it arrives.

Wretch here too. It gives you the most customizability. Just do that and figure it out as you go.

Samurai was pretty goddamn tempting though. I might try that on a replay, though more likely than not it'll have an NG+ and I'll get Samurai-like gear/abilities along the way so there'll be no need.

It's funny, after finishing Souls Remastered and watching so much stuff about Fromsoft lately, I'm finally ready to get into Sekiro...at the worst possible time, cause it'll have to wait a while now.

Why would you not get this for PC? Cinders mod alone added 100s of hours of content, and that isn’t even the best mod just the biggest.
Just don’t pick up anything an invader drops and you good, eventually hackers all get their own servers.
