So restarted on PC. First, had lots of trouble getting my PS5 controller to work. Sekiro had the same problem when I tried that again a few weeks ago. Did the vJoy thing and removed HID controllers, nothing. Turns out that the problem was that my new Razer keyboard for some strange reason registers as a Razer Joystic. Unplugged that and it worked. Wish From Soft did what many devs do now though, to add an option to include PS buttons. Or for that matter, register that you are using a PS5.
Do notice the stutter at times. Stutters slows things down, then speeds it up again. Though happens fairly rarely, and never notice it in dungeons. Had a hard crash once. Completely playable though and getting 60fps for the most part on max settings (motion blur off) on 1080p. Only have a 1080GTX. Can't handle 4k resolution without a major FPS drop.
That said, restarted as the same class, Samurai. This time I bumped mind. 15 hours in and level 40. Using Claymore, got that to +10 and have the bleed shot thing as the Arms (which is crazy powerful). Thought I had explored all of the first zone, but still found lots I didn't last time. Game is so big....
Got the headless tank as a summon and got it to +3. It's crazy powerful. Uses 104fp which is why I bumped Mind.
Explored more of the first legacy dungeon before Godrick. Still not done the rooftop route, but found another "boss" in the cellar. Big dungeon. Then went to fight Godrick, and this time I had found a NPC that wanted me to summon her. Did that and the +3 summon and if I hadn't gotten greedy I would have killed him before he went to phase 2 as he staggered just before he was about to do it. Got him to 5% and was one swipe from killing him and died to his stomp because I wanted to hit instead of jump. Greed strikes again. Killed him easily the second run, but sadly didn't stagger him that time and he went to phase 2 before he died right after it.
Build is a melee summoner with a planned faith /int at minimum 14 (still at 10) to be able to use magic weapon and holy weapon buffs. Might bump arcane too for some dragon things. Using a full set of Godrick soldier armor. Using a combo of 1h shield and 2h with the blood attack. Using the longbow a lot too since the power stance shots are really powerful.
Game is so good it actually boggles the mind. The insane hype before the release wasn't strong enough. The hype was tied to it could be the best souls game, which is still a feat, but tied to the "souls" genre. Discarding some technical issues, the reality is that Elden Ring is shaping up to be one of the best games ever made regardless of genre.
