Agreed, the remake was amazing, just wish Demons Souls had the same interconnected world like the later ones had. It is nice that each world feels incredibly unique, though. Great game aside from a few gimmicky bosses.

Original Demons Souls gameplay really holds up well, the remake was almost exclusively a graphics/sound upgrade

As if my hype meter wasn’t about to burst I read and watched some fairly spoilery stuff tonight that has me frothing at the mouth for this week. Shit! Not sure I’ve ever seen a game preview this well either… think I’m grabbing on ps5 as the pc version seems like it might have a few issues for launch and I hate not using the haptic controllers now.

For the most part, once you memorize an enemy's moveset and have your timing down, you can clown them. Then you move onto the next enemy and have to learn their moveset again. I think I'll be going for a STR/ARCANE build. The spells this time around all look really badass it seems criminal just to be my usual blademaster self and not use any of them.

Since you can parry with either a shield OR a two hander out you have a lot more flexibility this time.

I think I did in DS2. In DS1 I used a spear. In DS3 I used .... a spear plus magic I think?

I am kinda curious how well high level dark souls-like players are faring in elden ring. I'd be truly impressed by someone going in cold and beating the game with a low death count in the same way a lot of games can be beaten by high level players. Souls like games are harder than most other games to be sure, but a big part of that is that "getting gud" is memorizing locations and enemy animations, which doesn't translate to other areas.

I'm gonna start in my undies for the first time. This guy convinced me. Weird I haven't even considered that before. The very first upgrades is usually what I love most in RPGs but in DS I can play like half the game with no upgrades since the starter gear is good.
