I’ll look up some guides after I’m done with my first play through. I don’t understand why anyone would want to do that on their first play through. I can understand looking up missing things once you’ve cleared and area or looking up something you’re stuck on but getting OP right off the bad is just stupid. What a way to ruin a game for yourself.

I’m excited to try a casting build, I’ve basically stuck to melee. Starting to tinker with bows and throwing shit now. Finally found the vendor who sells the samurai armor after 35 hours. Feels good to get that kit after starting naked. I feel like I’ve finally made it.

For people wanting a caster, I strongly suggest trying incants rather than sorcery. Sorcery is basically the same as it's been since Demon's Souls, while faith stuff is a mix of classic miracles, dark magic, pyromancy, AND a bunch of completely new things. Sorcery does have a couple new ideas, but everything is so mana-inefficient compared to pebble and Carian slicer that you end up relying on those two spells far too much.

The further along I'm progressing the more I'm seeing that about sorcery

What the fuck is this setting they don't explain by the way?

All these crazy exploded towers and bridges, fucking glowing trees instead of a sun, some sort of ring everyone wants... weird monstrosities everywhere.

It's like a post apocalyptic zombie Valinor from The Silmarillion crossed with Shadow of the Collossus.

What are pure dex bros running? swapped off str claymore for now and upgraded the bloodhound sword, it is indeed pretty nuts. Just wondering what other stuff people have found for dex. Found the washing pole equivalent and it's tempting me.

All the glinstone attacks, the showers/shotguns/comets etc are all terrible because they eat too much FP. The basic one or the fast version are great for clearing out weird/annoying trash, but their damage is meaningless vs bosses. The big greatswords are randomly amazing to AE with.

The gravity meteor is busted as all fuck though. It does pure physical damage so it staggers like a fully charged colossal weapon attack does, and 2-3 casts stun basically any boss in the entire game.

There is an insane near end game katana that drops. 48 dex required

Sounds good but I'm playing the game mostly blind so I cant really count on just randomly finding that gravity meteor spell

This explains a lot of the initial lore.. There was a castle in the sky above the starting area that was destroyed in the past which is why you see all those exploded towers and bridges.

How are people making it as a lower level caster to a high level one? Are they leveling as something else and then respec into a caster? I tried leveling one and it was very painful to do it. I was constantly out of mana due to popping FP potions nonstop. I’ll go back to a caster when I finish my first run as a melee. Other than taking death runs to get early OP items any suggestions leveling a caster?

I can't speak to experience in this game yet, but in the older games, magic was just support early on, you're still primarily relying on melee until you're high enough level to do real damage with spells.

Yeah, I avoided all the guides and just roamed the world gathering maps, flask upgrades, and smithing stones... and severely screwed up a main quest because I activated the festival before starting Ranni's quest and doing the stuff with Blaidd. So much so that I had to go back and actually kill Radahn just to get her to spawn the very first time in her tower. The quest skipped over Blaidd completely (no idea where he even is now) and I guess it's back on the path again, but it's annoying that it all happened because I didn't scour the Hold enough to find Rogier hiding out on the balcony after I killed Godrick which in turn forced me to go look up the quest info because I was told to go find her at the tower and she just was never there.

At least someone did post the solution (kill Radahn) but it was very frustrating for a couple hours trying to solve it on my own.

Yea a lot of it gets really fucked if you go to Redmane castle too early.

On the flip side I think you can also go...too late lol? Like I didn't kill Radahn until after I did a ton of other shit, and the castle is just completely empty? Like I get summoned in to peoples worlds all the time as a blue sentinel and there are mobs everywhere to fight, but mine just remains empty forever now cause the festival was on when I went there the first time?

I started as samurai and then started putting points in INT. Once I could equip it, I grabbed the meteorite staff and the rock throw spell, now im running more of a hybrid with int as the main stat with an int scaling katana. Rock throw does some good damage on fights where you can afford the long windups, otherwise I stick to the starter spell or just melee and roll

Staff in left hand, other weapon in right hand. Use spells and attacks.

Heh RE: Redmane castle being empty, turns out you can "fix" it by going back to the festival area and finding the crier guy and talking to him a bunch. It reset my castle and now there's assholes everywhere and another boss fight.

I have a ton of spells that are just ... terrible. I keep trying to figure out in exactly what scenario some of these would even be viable. I just got the big hammer and the lobbed grenade today and both are just as bad as everything else.

Did they think this through?

Has anyone completed the Ruin-Strewn Precipice east of Caria manor and killed the Lava Wurm boss? I've run through now 3x and made sure everything was killed, but the red map overlay splat thing that indicate a dungeon is still there and I have no idea why. Curious if anyone completed it and made it disappear or if it's just a bug?

I can guarantee you people are going to find useful setups for most sorceries in this game after it's been out for a few months. Sorcery by itself sucks, kinda. But I can already imagine insane setups with certain weapons and ashes of war. The combos that are possible in this game seem endless

The problem is finding the shit I want to try dammit!
