The real test will be if boats work... or will they lag out and put you in the OOT, 1/2 drowned and likely with a Swimming (4). You all know you either learned how to swim from boat lag or in that 10ft tunnel in LGUK.
Can any Rangers from the Velious era vouch for its viability (When it is up)? Pretty sure I saw it used every time by Rangers in Velious.Trueshot was added between Kunark and Velious supposedly, its a disc. But the AA that made it a beast was not added until Luclin, namely archery mastery one which did double damage, and of course the endless quiver.
Dagarn's machine gun bow in velious, with trueshot and ranger ability to crit with ranged could be pretty beast. (anecdotal)Can any Rangers from the Velious era vouch for its viability (When it is up)? Pretty sure I saw it used every time by Rangers in Velious.
From the posts and live streaming, it's hard to say how fast progress is being made nor am I tech savvy enough to understand the scope of what they are trying to do.Considering the fact that it took EQC five fucking years to even begin talking about alpha testing, I imagine P99 won't even exist by the time it's finished. The question is whether any of us will be alive by then.
Comments like axeman's are probably best ignored as there is a lot of animosity in the EQEmu community, especially between P99 and EQClassic. One of Yeahlight's posts indicated development should "explode" once they got past the core development phase, which they now have, but there is still a lot of work to be done, especially with the database. I would hope EQClassic will see release at the end of this year or early next year, but it's hard to say at this point. From the posts and live streaming, it's hard to say how fast progress is being made nor am I tech savvy enough to understand the scope of what they are trying to do.
Shit, for all we know this could be 4-5 jaded fucks trolling people that have an unhealthy obsession with Everquest nostalgia. But hey, call me trolled and buy me a scrip for my sickness.
It pretty much just allowed you to temporarily do DPS with a bow that was similar to your basic melee DPS, with the obvious advantage of being ranged. People used it more out of a desire to utilize an iconic class feature than for any particular purpose. Archery was the only way for rangers to crit at the time so rangers liked the novelty of seeing their name next to a big crit message, knowing that everyone else could see it as well. Ranger doesn't become a good class until Luclin. Until then, their damage output is on par with warriors (the ones that aren't tanking and so can equip DPS weapons, anyway) and they have almost no utility on raids aside from weaponshield tanking which is moderately useful to a guild that's just breaking into the raid scene and struggles to get things done. Can any Rangers from the Velious era vouch for its viability (When it is up)? Pretty much, however ranger dps is more than warrior dps in similar gear (ntov/st) and Trueshot without AA's again in ST/NTOV gear is less then base melee. TS is very situational in Velious at best (really only used it on ventani), and a novelty at worst. Luclin is such a huge game changer, unless your guild insists on walling all raid targets =pIt pretty much just allowed you to temporarily do DPS with a bow that was similar to your basic melee DPS, with the obvious advantage of being ranged. Also including original mob hps/mps/dmg/etc, spawn points, pathing, how quests worked... its a long list.
This never occurred. In 2009, I welcomed some old "developers" back and they secretly had plans of taking our work and starting their own project (this never became anything, because these people are lazy, unmotivated and unskilled). When their plans became known, I immediately released our work so that it could never be held over our heads. Unfortunately, one of these people suffers from a delusional disorder and they never pass up the opportunity to inform the World of the wrongs they "committed" against us. In reality, they did not do anything, but they still enjoy taking the credit for something that never occurred.lordbc_sl said:P99 got off the ground because one of the ciders from EQC threw a tantrum and handed over lots of code.
It is very unlikely that an EQEmu server used any significant portion of our work at that time.
This is a side effect of scraping Allakhazam for NPC data. The actual NPC data from EQLive is probably less than 5% of the data you see in PEQ's NPC database. Since the data is exploded and replicated for each zone and for each NPC in each zone on Allakhazam, the end result is a giant, unmaintainable mess. For instance, EQLive had roughly eight gem drop tables for all NPCs, but in PEQ's database you have gem drops assigned to specific NPCs. Instead of maintaining a handful of gem drop tables, you have thousands of loot tables you need to modify to adjust gem drop rates (plus, specific gems were not assigned to specific NPCs; an NPC simply had access to a shared gem drop table).Hanocaz_sl said:However a database filled with 1000000+ entries is just beyond the scope of any free persons time.
I'm confused by this. I thought YL would be working on the database with the help of the community. Is this all not part of "Database Refinement"'on the development roadmap?I will not be involved with this.
