Yea sorry, my intention was to be sarcastic. Trusting Sony to produce to a AAA game.....I would love to have seen the Intrade odds on that.
I checked it's the same as getting visted by alien lifeform and getting anal from the virgn mary....On the same day

Doesn't work. If every human you kill respawn as a monster, and you need to kill three humans to get back one human, you quickly end up with no humans left.
I pretty much just jotted down everything off the top of my head in this post so it probably can be improved upon a great deal.
Case in point^

Hmm... ok Monsters purchase things with souls. Souls are gained from killing people, or NPC monsters, or opposing faction player monsters, and maybe a few other activities, but mostly killing. They offer the souls up at various altars spread throughout the world. Getting to some altars can be downright hard. Killing one player would give a monster enough souls to buy 2 human respawns. The player does not have to use these respawn items immediately however. Ideally monsters would outnumber people, but you are right; Having to kill three people winds up with all monsters.

And as another thought towards the lovecraftian setting. You could have cults of people that worship various monstrous entities. There is a sort of lottery system where people get sacrificed or possessed in exchange for some protection from the monster and it's minions. However, these groups could even disguise their beliefs to lure unsuspecting travelers into their town to be used as sacrifice bait instead of one of the faithful followers.

Maybe it's time they think about giving some morsel of information about this project. As it stands there is pretty much zero buzz. Not good.

Being completely serious here, what buzz could they possibly generate at this point? EQ2 was a shadow of what EQ was (in the aspects that EQ excelled at) and was a pale imitation of what WoW was.(in the aspects that WoW excelled at) So you have those two points, and the fact that EQ1's playerbase hasn't grown appreciably compared to when it was a big commodity. So really, outside of forums like these, where would the buzz come from? I know my panties don't get soaked at the thought of ID software making a new game, especially after Doom 3. Why would MMORPG guys get excited about a game that radically deviates from previous incarnations in a series that hasn't been a mainstream competitor for almost a decade?

Not shitting on the franchise, but it hasn't exactly been a chart topper in the last 8 years at a minimum, for either game.

What's to say? It's going to be a F2P but with cash shop WoW-clone where you run around getting 10 quests per hub, killing 10~20 of the appropriate mob type then turning your quests in for gold, xp and items you'll vendor. After doing this for 30 to 70 levels you'll do the 2 raids they have, whine about how easy they are and how you're fully kitted out in raid gear in two weeks. You'll try PVP but it'll be fucking awful and a stupid grind for shit that isn't as good as the PvE gear out there except for an item for one slot. You'll do the requisite faction grind for a helmet and an item that allows you to enchant a piece of gear. This will be required for raiding and it will be soul crushing.

Grouping will involve finding a tank, someone to heal the tank and 2~4 dps classes. Combat will consist of hitting your "Opener that causes attack B to do more damage" followed by "Pure damage attack B" followed by "Closer that deals super damage only if you hit A and B first!" This will be done by left clicking or tab targeting the mob and then pushing 1-2-3 over and over again. You will have over 20 abilities on your hot bar all that do the same thing just with a different particle effect. Warriors will have an ability that causes them to quickly close the distance with their target. It will not be called charge because that would be copying WoW.

Raiding will involve a lot of sitting around clearing trash mobs and then learning how to not stand in fire all over again. It will have a raid cap of 20 people because raiding is srs business and must be perfectly tuned! You will hate other peoples girlfriends for being fucking terrible at the game but still allowed in the guild because their boyfriend is a pretty good wizard and you really needed a wizard plus she sounds cute on vent.

Tradeskills will involve clicking on shit on the ground then clicking on shit in your UI while standing at a forge. The only items worth making after the first week will be bags and potions.

The game will claim that it is 'new' and 'innovative' and use phrases like "dynamic content generation systems!" to describe their version of public quests which will be awful. They will copy RDF from WoW (without improving upon RDF's many shortcomings) 3 months after everyone has stopped giving a fuck about the game. There won't be an original thought or idea at all involved in the making of this game. There will be player housing but it will be pointless unless you start to pony up and buy some StationCash(tm) to outfit it.

There will be a forum guild that lasts about three weeks before some established guild recruits the 7 people still playing. In a few months the thread will be bumped by someone asking, "Anyone still play this?" followed by 3 people offering to help the guy who just started or recruiting him to their guild. After 6 months there will be an expansion where we all talk about the potential the game had but then bitch about the things that caused us not to play.

zero buzz is a refreshing difference. One problem games suffer from is expectations they cant possibly meet.

modern mmos dont do this anymore. Youll have a skill bar with an auto attack and 4 other skills, so simple a black kid with 2 fingers could do it.

I am with Zehn, to me, EQN is nothing more than a lol atm, UNLESS they actually show something interesting instead of Mr.Smedley keep jumping out and emo "Hey guys, look, it is going to be the biggest sandbox ever!" Ya, big deal...

Sadly, that covers everything. Just sticky this post and close all upcoming MMOG threads. Maybe keep the Eve thread open because reading about Eve drama is more entertaining than playing most MMOGs, including Eve itself.

Don't worry. I'll be burning a shitpile of money on hotel and airfare for SOE Live in Vegas, and I'll try to take a bunch of videos so you can be disappointed from home.

Hahahaha. Nailed it.

Considering they've "scrapped and completely started over" two times already (that we know of), I'm 99% certain that everything you've said is absolutely correct.

RIP Innovation.
