This is from the top post at the official forums on the latest RT question:

Too much contested content could probably be construed as a Denial of Service for many players.
That denial of service phrase is the slogan for EQN. Want to be able to kill other players? Sorry, denial of service for those that don't. Want to require specific classes to complete content? Sorry, denial of service for anyone that didn't choose that class. Want to have a death penalty? Sorry, denial of service for everyone that doesn't want to die. Want raid mobs that take skill to defeat? Sorry, denial of service for the unskilled players. And on, and on, and on...

People who will never even get themselves in a position to be beaten to contested content, but they'll bitch and moan about the sheer possibility of it happening. The casual guild players who despise anyone who does something in the game faster or more successful than they do, citing the fact that they don't have the time to play as the reason for their shortcomings.

My expectations have hit rock bottom. I'm not going to incessantly bash everything they say or do from here on out, but things have gotten markedly worse every single day since the reveal. First step, as mentioned above...shitcan whomever is running their marketing/PR.
As we've discussed before, they could have made EQN with StoryBricks, with destructible Voxels but kept combat much more MMOish instead of going full MOBA. They are forgetting one of the lessons of DCUO - the average person gets tired with action combat all the time.

I think I figured out the secret behind the advanced AI.

PROJECT M, BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Death Penalty too. If you die, you come back as a mob, and can only get your character back when you kill a different PC!

Tad nailed it. They're relying heavily on two things (voxels and SB) that they didn't even create to make this game successful.
Brick and mortar are just tools. One man uses them to build a shitty little hovel while another builds the Great Wall of China or the Taj Mahal. It's all about execution. That they didn't create the tools that they're using to make the game in no way diminishes the potential of the game itself. If you've played Borderlands, Dishonored, Bioshock Infinite, Deus Ex, Arkham Asylum, and many, many other games you've played critically and commercially acclaimed games that were made using tools that were not developed by the production teams themselves (Unreal Engine).

That being said, it is SOE we're talking about here and execution is the one thing I would never bet money on so far as they're concerned.

Yup, their approach of "Enough of the same damn game already" might ultimately end up being what sinks them. Not everything in the genre is broken, and I don't think they want to realize that.

Lol. Even Reddit is upset over the Poll. Nobody wants instances any more -_-

So they copy MOBA classes but not MOBA competition?

Oh I totally agree with you there. They've just never given me any reason to believe they can execute this.

I think they went down the path of "let's make something new" and felt they had to make everything new. Which wasnt the best plan.

The idea of Denial of Service didnt cross their minds they changed the guise of deceiver to brd/rog only to operate it. Still pissed off about that....

They need more randomization with the "contested" mobs. If I don't know exactly where a particular mob will be I can't just sit my ass down waiting for the 10 hour pop timer to tick and then call my buddies or solo it when it pops. If it spawns or travels in more random areas (but with meaning) then at least the competition becomes less about who has less of a life and more about your strategy of travel and where you spend your time fighting etc.

shut down all your games and go Indie style and make niche games using the EQN tech.. one hardcore pvp and one old school Pve. Let EQN be the medium we know it will be..

They want to get the carebears to appreciate the elite? Bring the raid mobs to the doorsteps of the newbie/casual areas. Instead of burying it in some hidden cavern, let a dragon wander up to Qeynos gates and reek havoc on the people just starting out. If the elite can take care of an actual threat to the advancement of the casuals, the casuals will have a reason to appreciate the presence of the elite. Community building.

Of course the first newbie to cry "denial of service" when his 30 minutes of time to play on his only night off will bring that idea crashing down in a hurry. Oh well.

It just feels like Butler and Talisker were in the #2 guild on some server and resented the fact they got locked out of content by the uber guild (and also happened to lose a couple Clerics when the guildleader dumped his girlfriend). The solution isn't zero competition and be all you can be classes -_-

Realistically, unless they spawned the dragon at the gates and gave no time to react, no one would ever see it destroying anything because it would get intercepted on the way and zerged down before anyone not in the immediate area was even able to get there to "help." This is assuming a healthy population and capital cities that have otherwise-limited functions (AH, bank, etc).
