This is what EQ is all about. It's similar to a forum. A community that interacts and progresses. Some people hate each other. Some people just define hate. It's fucking awesome. Finding people who you can interact with and be friends... work together and kill shit, thats what EQ was all about. Some people were just assfaggots (IMO?), and thats okay too, they usually clump together as well, and even succeed. Every community needs people that you love, and it needs people that you hate.

6-12 second cast times with up to 20 minute downtimes between battles and tanks that can't solo? Don't forget those. Fatigue either.

Meh, I've already said I'd be done for EQ with the arm chair dev modifications of alliances, FFA (aside from no full loot) pvp, and mob kill stealing. If we're going to hate each other, lets fucking hate each other.

So I'm gonna defend qwerty's position here...

I'm in charge of operations at a decently successful brew pub, and I bartend a couple nights of the week to augment my salary. When I get home from a shitty shift behind the bar, all I wanna do pour myself a drink, fire up my favorite MMO, and yes, lose myself in the world. Otherwise known as, relaxing.

This is the reason I will never desire super engaging combat (Gw2, Wildstar) or in game voice comm. There is nothing relaxing about hearing people yammer on over VC about the minutia of their lives, the game, or their genitals. This is especially true for me after I just spent 9 hours pouring vodka-water-bar-limes for 19 year olds who dot tip.

And you know what, it would even be THAT bad if people were a LITTLE fucking cool. But generally the vent channels of high end guilds are full of the following.

1. Dorks. Arrogant, lisping, sarcastic, dorks with an opinion on everything. I fucking hate dorks.
2. Boring sad people who just wanna chat about ANYTHING all the time.
3. Pseudo flirty 35-45 y.o. women, who the dorks try to impress constantly.
4. officers being SUPER SERIOUS 100% of the time.
5. Cliques spouting bullshit jokes.

The only guild I have been in that wasn't like this was Afterlife in Vanilla WoW... And even they had their share of dorks.

group 4 and 5 represent. Don't forget the underage girl pedotraps. We have one of those now that we're under new management. Watching the dorks fall over themselves to claim her e-hymen as soon as she hits 18 is hilarious.

While any type of OPEN social interaction will have those qualities, you can always break off into smaller groups of like minded individuals.

Dude... Bartender remember? I encounter hundreds of people a day, and let me tell you, no group of them are as annoying as your average band of raiders. From my experience anyway, and I've probably been in 10 or so raiding guilds.

But ya, every guild has its decent people, and sub channels are my saviour.

Some of the people arguing over shit in this thread are so hyperbolic. There's no in-between grey area or compromise between people of either side. Maybe if you guys could get your heads out of your asses with the strawmen retorts and mindless insults, yall could have a discussion.

Its like enjoying a videogame isint an subjective experience to some of you. Its either your way, or youre a fucking moron. Get over yourselves. This goes to both sides. Some people want to spend more time in an online game and would like the game to have mechanics to reflect that, and on the other hand, some people want something that doesnt require as much playtime for progression.
