EQ Never

You saw the video - SOE wasn't planning on Landmark. It was only after they had "tons of fun" building things that they decided to create it as a second product. EQN/L is a complete accident andthus probably going to be the more succesful of the two products.
QFT. Most of the fun in EQ and other MMOs came as a result of unintended use of game mechanics. What gives me hope is that they can see both the business opportunities and the fun involved in creation tools.

What would be awesome is to see players barter for a bigger cut of the pie in introducing their creations, assets, etc. and bring about the new era of MMOs themselves.

Hell, expand EQN/L and allow players to create their own classes, mobs, mechanics, and AI. We'll have Vanguard & SWG the way they should have been, and EQ3.

I want my mangina dancer and cantina back, dammit!

This is the dream.

I can't wait to see the EULA for EQN/L

"If you make anything really cool, SOE has the right to monetize it, we might give you some money. That okay with you? It better be or you can go back to playing with legos."

Shit I said that on like page 200. Thats how mmo's are going to be completely player made. Classes, items, zones, races, lore.

Ah, the AI isn't alive man. It's notthatadvanced.
It's skynet. Which brings up an interesting point. Based on the last interview EQN may not be ping-pong, but it might be a zerg fest. Maybe we'll see the return of the 100+ member guilds.

Since there is no instancing, raiding seems to be: "bring as little or as many as you want" and some of the areas will be infested with mobs and you'll want to bring lots o' friends.

If you combine what looks like TERA-style combat with destructible environments I think even 20 people fighting the same boss would be extremely chaotic. Do we know if they plan to use player collisions?

I foresee raid guilds becoming search and destroy. Groups in the raid guild with split off and search the land for something big to kill, when they find it, it'll be a race to get there as fast as possible to kill it before another raid guild discovers it.... or maybe I just have high hopes.

MMO's have no room for fps. People will bot it up go try to play darkfall good luck without a bot. Plus latency is a huge factor in fps thats why major tourneys are at LANs. There isn't going to be local servers for everyone for MMOfps. Just 2 different types of games.
Latency isnt like it was when some players were still on dial-up and others on DSL when playing FPS.

"Plus latency is a huge factor in fps thats why major tourneys are at LANs"
Tourneys have to be LAN network setup because its a local event, latency has nothing to do with why they are LAN!

Pie in the Sky optimism or over the top Cynicism... Which flavor of shit posts do you prefer?
It's not our fault SoE can't articulate thier vision properly=p

We can be brutal but I think there is more of a balance here than there for sure.

Criticism, whether over the top or not, is usually rooted in some fact. An artist who can disseminate the valid points contained in criticism can use those points to refine his work and create a superior product. Nobody ever painted a better picture because they were told that it was perfect after the first stroke. This is the danger of /r/EQnext.

Am I the only who thinks it's a little embarrassing that they are doing the same presentation each day? That just reeks of amateur hour. There were a lot of different things they could have done with that time.

totally agree, they are showing off someone building a road or a few blocks.. before.. after, no desire to see this at this point. we know we can create content on our own. Let's have more understanding of EQN not EQL

Criticism is great. No argument from me. But negative speculation based on misinformation is = to blind optimism

Has reddit always been this vomit worthy , pie in the sky shit or is it a new trend ?
I've always thought of reddit as one of the shittiest places on the internet, outside of a few niche subreddits. The more popular the reddit, the more it turns into the worst aspects of the internet (Console warriors, echo chambers, groupthink, constant meme spouting) with the same group of windowlickers either upvoting things or shouting any criticisms down.
