Not really. Maybe it's not what you were looking for, but maybe it's still going to be good. Or not. Who knows, but it's not exactly a baffling concept.

You joke about this but I would love it.My guess is a PvP card game where you can gamble mats.
What kind of nonsense is that? This game can be NOTHING like what you wanted it to and still be a good game. The two are completely unrelated. Stop trying to read tea leave to see make judgements on the game. Judge when you are playing it in Beta.
You said what kind of nonsense is that and concluded by agreeing exactly with what he said. What kind of nonsense is that?
Most of us here have played enough MMO'S for the last decade or more to know WHAT WE DON"T LIKE, and EQN is hitting the ball out of the park on all the types of shit us relics would NOT LIKE to see in a MMO.
It might be the best game ever, just maybe not for me.
Awesome idea. Could be as shitty as duals though. My guess is a PvP card game where you can gamble mats.
Yeah? My 6 year old has been eating for as long as you have been playing MMOs. He refuses to try bacon because he knows what he doesn't like. But just like you and eqnext, I know he'll try it and probably like it.What kind of nonsense is that?

Director of Development for the EverQuest Franchise at SOE (EverQuest, EverQuest II, EverQuest Next and EverQuest Next Landmark!)Wth does this guy even do?
He's been working on games for 25 years, so he must do something, he was also on Planetside 1.That's a very large and "impressive" noun, but I was looking for more of a verby kind of thing.![]()
Honestly my main issue with the guns thing is given their current direction of "everyone needs to be allowed to be and do everything , and easily too" , they won't be rare at all. It will be common to have multiple folks in group packing their musket/flintlock/gnome tinkered M-16 whatever.I'm a page late on the guns, but come on. In a world where we have steam powered gnome robots and icebreakers (before even getting into the recent EQ shit like giant mecha-robots and cannons), I don't see why guns are so immersion breaking. I think one reason EQ was such a cool world was exactly because of how different everything felt. You had places like ocean of tears with random birdmen, savanna-like areas like the karanas, ak'anon, kelethin, mistmore, halas, kunark, catpeople on an island...pretty much everywhere in EQ felt like it had it's own detached vibe and that uniqueness was what made it so cool. I hope thats what they try and recreate, rather than "is this the EQ I expect them to give me.?" Seriously, they could have just named this game something else entirely and saved so much complaining if it was a new franchise.
EQ was one of the most random games I've ever played. Travel 3 zones in any direction and there was bound to be something that made you go, "what?" the first time.
Well honestly ,if the gnomes can tinker single shot rifles , wouldn't a gnome immediately see the possibility of a rotating cylinder that holds lots more shots ?Can they be semi and fully automatic ?! What about lasers? Everyone loves lasers.
