Path of Exile as well, random drop chances and ultra-rares are pretty key to maintaining the feel.Diablo does it well enough.

Just because they aren't doing early alpha access doesn't mean that they wont follow the closed alpha -> invite only beta -> open beta soft launch.Looks doubtful they will do the same $100 alpha access founder pack thing they did with Landmark focusing on internal testing and closed Betas instead.
oh yeah totally, we just won't see the early alpha no NDA type of style we are seeing now with all these early access games. No one will be buying into EQN's alpha.Just because they aren't doing early alpha access doesn't mean that they wont follow the closed alpha -> invite only beta -> open beta soft launch.
You should go check out the Wildstar thread. Wildstar's PVE content was purposely difficult, essentially the exact 180 degree opposite of "face rollable", and it has tanked. If the majority of MMO gamers don't want face rollable PVE content, you would think they would all be flocking to Wildstar but they aren't.Agreed EQ fans who want "HD EQ" are a small minority and should be ignored. What is NOT a minority is the growing amount of MMO players who are getting tired of rehashed wow clones with face roll able content. This is shown not just with MMOS but gaming in general.
Wildstar has a SLEW of other problems going for it. It's hard PVE is actually the best part of the game, Just because someone slaps hard PVE in a shitty game and it fails doesn't mean people don't want challenging content. It means Wildstar blows just like everyone who played the beta said it did.You should go check out the Wildstar thread. In terms of challenge/difficulty, perhaps the answer lies somewhere in between.
I've spent more years playing EQ1 and WoW than any other MMOs combined so my hope for EQN is that it's takes the best systems of EQ1 and vanilla WoW and combine them into the same game.
Give players a sandbox world, itemization design, and the server drama/politics from EQ1 and combine it with the instanced dungeons and raids and combat system from WoW (or TERA) and IMO you will have a winner.
^I'd bet a ton of EQ "fanbois" were pretty turned off by Wildstar's action combat. I know I tried it in beta, said fuck that shit and never looked back.
The game wasnt fun. The world was disconnected. The combat wasnt good.I'd bet a ton of EQ "fanbois" were pretty turned off by Wildstar's action combat. I know I tried it in beta, said fuck that shit and never looked back.
EverQuest Next Cleric Preview - YouTubeWhats the TLDR on the no trinity combat? That shit was horrible in GW2
The trinity is alive and well in EQnext. There are still classes who focus on hp replenishment, support, crowd control, dmg mitigation/absorption etc. However, there won't be a traditional taunt/agro tank & spank mechanic. This is due to how the AI works in addition to how players interact with the destructable world.Whats the TLDR on the no trinity combat? That shit was horrible in GW2
I got negged for this last time but the TL;DR is basically a Multiple-Choice GW2 setup with minor healing support with defensive cooldowns. There's a bit more customization in the fact that half your bar you can mix and match all the abilities in the game. The other half is weapon locked specific to your primary class.Whats the TLDR on the no trinity combat? That shit was horrible in GW2
Me too, I need to get that Disciple of Kaine feel back again.Awesome thanks bros, hopefully it gets implemented in a good way.
Ya for GW2 it was a balance issue, no one was actually really good at the support roles so it never really needed to be used. If EQN makes the healing/support/whatever role pretty strong then people will find good uses for it and working as a team will end up as better than just moar dps I am sure.I got negged for this last time but the TL;DR is basically a Multiple-Choice GW2 setup with minor healing support with defensive cooldowns. GW2 ruined it by balancing the classes into monotony. EQ:N, so far, seems to have a different view on this concept by leaving a portion of it open ended.
Smed reminds me of the actor that played The Thing in the fantastic 4.Papa Smedbucks talking about EQN,Landmark and H1Z1.
