Just downloadHotkeyNet, copy this into your script, and edit it to your situation

Hitting Shift Ctrl FX will launch the game, log in a character, and rename the window for you. Numpad 4 and Numpad 6 will cycle through the client windows forwards and backwards without screwing up your alt key. Change the waits to match your system speed. Change the hotkeys to whatever else you want. DO NOT hit the login macros with a game client in focus and standing around other people, as it might /say your account details if your waits are too short or your machine lags.

If you are running an old dual core processor that has problems running the client, change the F to a 1 to run that client only on the first core, or 2 to only run it on the second core. If your machine has more than 4 cores, change all the Fs to FFs. F means that process can use any or all of the first 4 cores, FF means any of the first 8 cores. (it's a hex bitmask)

Did anyone else have issues getting this to run on anything other than 800x600? Tried a variety of compatibility modes, eqw/eqclient ini tweaks, running as admin, etc.

Edit: Nevermind, got it.

Just fired this up. Gotta say, its fun remembering zone layouts from memory and have no access to maps! I just wish the draw distance was further (its maxed in options).

So, anyone have any unused newbie caster gear for a fledgling Necro?

Just grab an MGB (bind yourself at the PoK soulbinder) and that will be more than any amount of twink gear you could hope for. The only real issue is finding weapons for lowbie melee characters, and being able to afford your spells.

Sucks that pets dont zone with you either. Makes the buffs less effective.

I'm most in need of a bag(s) and some cash to buy spells. Zlandicar hearts expensive or tough to come by? Those were nice for twink necros (worn regen).

In my mid 40's now. Been camping Mith BP in Sol B with my shaman/rogue/pali box. Slow is finally becoming useful. Settling into the server nicely.

So thought I would give this a try. Have managed to get everything running through eqw, but how the hell do I box? If I try to start another instance of eqw up, my current one just closes.

Feels like I am missing something really simple here ....

Edit: Ok figured it out, run eqw before you log in as many times as needed.

There are lots of quirks actually, and you have to learn them all through trial and error. That is one of them. Also I find that once I click OK to log in to the server and the game actually 'loads', it can often fuck up and end up with one of the clients being stuck 'on top' and you can't alt tab to get past it. It's just stuck. So when 6 boxing, I have to quickly log all 6 in within the space of about 1 second, otherwise I run risk of getting one stuck.

Also, if I ever try to alt tab while zoning, the ALT key can get stuck semi-permanently on that client. Which is why I now have set up a new routine for alt tabbing, using some separate software.

There are various other issues too. It's all a bit of a pain, but just so worth it.

In my experience I've found that getting a client stuck on top has to do with alt tabbing while you're logging it in. I could be wrong but I don't think I've had that problem if I let each client load in on it's own.

Yeah, that's what I meant :p

So when 6 boxing, you either have to log each one in separately which takes ages, or you have to log them all in within about 1 second. Which is possible, just a bit tricky and one of several quirks.

I can't figure out if this is related to the PC hack, but often what I type and what the chat outputs are different on this server. It seems to be unable to understand =, %, :, and the like.

I've seen info in the thread about keyboard configs causing problems. Forget where though, dig around.

I've lost count of the days I've been in twilight sea. I decided to try some of the luclin armor quests. I managed gloves after a couple days, but boots are murderous. I've killed thousand and thousands and thousands of placeholders. Like 5 levels worth at least.

Very evil quest, there are 8 - 10 spawn spots, 16 different named for the various classes, and about a 5ish% chance of a named appearing. I've now seen 13 of the 16, some 3 or 4 times.

The items aren't very good either. When I finally get boots and robes though, it will be worth the permanent blindness I'm getting from the eye straining darkness of twilight.

Made it to 22 in very short time. If anyone is starting this out, I can't stress the importance of using the places with ZEM (zone experience modifiers) enough. As a Necro, I absolutely blasted away a few levels in Kurn's in an hour. Low mana cost Undead Nukes make it easy, even if you're mostly naked gear wise. Grab one of the MGB casts of KEI and Virtue and the game is basically turned to cheat mode.

Although I must say, its quite annoying that pets arent persistent (dont zone with you).

Just started an iksar necro and high elf pally, Nyteman and Daymaan. Only had a chance to create chars last night but setting up the pc hack was pretty painless. Was there a known fix to enable more luclin models? It keeps saying I only have enough memory to enable 2 types of models. I killed some scaled wolf pups around Cabalis and they all looked like mini human models that glided across the floor.

When you choose all the new models in the options screen, press enter/return instead of clicking on the OK button. That gets you past the memory warning.
