Ya, I've had that work for me a couple times now. Sometimes the server's a little slow to re-synch and show that your claim is available, so if you try to re-claim right away and it won't let you; give it a few minutes.
I've never seen itnotsay Local. I was on from 6pm till 4am this morning, logged in and out several times to fix my selection tool, and never once saw it say anything but local. Also, lost all my voxel data from when I logged at 4am. I logged back in around 10am and it was there, rebooted, logged back in and it was all gone.
Had a friend with a similar issue. He was also unable to see the claim outlines on the map. He had to update drivers and directx. Fixed his issues.
Well since you aren't actually playing, not sure you would be the best person to be giving advice or directions on actual gameplay. To your question Tide27, I was in Tier 2 zones last night and no nodes were showing on the surface. There were a few threads on other having the same issues. When I logged in today, the nodes were showing again. Might want to try a different server and maps in the same tier range.
Yea dude, last night was really solid for me. I FINALLY decided to start building, and of course my 4 hours of it are lost overnight. Ahh well! It was good experience with the tools. The selection tool is a bit clunky - hopefully they improve on it's ability to select objects in the 3D space. Moving it around seems to reset it a bunch.
Did you get a chance to start building any structures yet? I gotta say, i'm not typically a builder, but once I started messing around with it....things got fun really quickly.
