I mined 8850 burled wood last night while I took a 3 hour nap. I use a G15 keyboard however, and that let me make something that would click for 15 seconds, wait 5 seconds, then repeat. I found a spot on a claim in the woods with two large trees inside each other and started it up.
Also yesterday I harvested for 3 hours actively and got 9070 burled wood in the same time.
I am using 2x Ring of the brawn and a blue copper axe with 85.66 speed and 68.56 damage. The rings add about 28 damage each (common green ones, rare and legendary add tons more). Normally it takes, with discovery gear, about 30-40 seconds to chop down the largest trees. With the +damage setup, it takes about 15 seconds. It makes up for the lack of discovery stats, bigtime.

I'm with you. I haven't even wanted to play a new MMO for like 5 years but I'm about ready to go buy a new PC and jump into this.

Hey Skanda, I think I was using your stuff the other night. Finally got my indigo pick, so I have about 35 burled planks if you want em for your last workshop. I should be on either 10-11 pm central or tomorrow morning.
p.s. Also.. that Ctrl-Z only works about 10 times. So don't go making a whole lot of edits and additions before using it. Save your stuff as a template every so often in case you bork something up.

Saw Georgeson post late last night about large update coming today and notes would be separate for it , have they put those up yet and my 10 secs of lazy glancing on the alpha forums just missed them ?

Also have said it before , but bears repeating with emphasis. I feel bad for ever judging ponytail as slick and full of it before really seeing what he's like. Either he's a great actor , or he genuinely care about this game and is pouring himself into it. They keep this amount of communication up and it will set the bar for other mmo devs to be judged by. That's a good thing. I've seen him specifically say a couple days ago that gamers want to know the why also , and even bad news if combined with why is far better than silence or no info. It's almost a relief to see a dev/company get this finally. Hoping he and SOE stick to it.
I played until 3 in the morning last night. My claim now has platforms into the heavens and an underground treasure room with pillars of pure minerals!

I'm not one to usually bitch about making anything quicker or easier , but the wood cutting part is going to have me seriously tempted to use the Logitech G710+ to try and afk grind the damned burled wood amounts it looks like I'm going to need.

I'm looking for an Auto-Key script that lets me click a key instead of having to hold down the left-mouse button.
Mining is fun. I enjoy knocking away chunks of terrain. Its visually pleasing to follow nodes deeper underground while particles fly towards you.
Wood Cutting sucks. I admit that I need a higher level Axe but it's just not fun, imo. I'd rather run around looting personal harvesters than the current implementation.

Same , don't mind some wood cutting , but the amount is over the top. For some reason I enjoy the mining also and don't get tired of that either.
I swear I read that tonight's patch is supposed to put the toggle button in for the tree chopping so you don't have to click or hold down the mouse button , just toggle it on and off once for each tree.
Macro keyboards are pretty handy for that. Just made a macro to hold it down for 19.5 seconds.
I never thought I'd think it, but SOE is making Trion look like a bunch of reclusive hermits ready to piss on you out of their cardboard boxes if you don't leave them alone. I never thought anyone would match their level of communication, let alone pass it which is what they are actually doing right now.
Such a turnaround for this company but if I had this product, I guess I'd be talking it up too.
Can only imagine the potential for Next based on this if they can keep some of the combat/classes from EQ2.
