a system like this seems likely to me. its the same sort of pattern that SOE has had in their other games, i don't see why they'd change now.

I'm thinking Landmark, like PS2, will allow all gameplay to be accessed for free (just slower), and monetize through strictly optional sub (a speed boost only, like more harvest yield) that is not seen as a paywall, and through player studio

Alpha here. I enjoyed Minecraft so much that after seeing the state of their development and building tools that exist right now that I really think this is going to be cool. So.. Tuco, down for another mega project? Ive already got something in mind.
So basically, when the world was being developed in the early stages on EQN, there were a lot of people just having fun with the tools being used building stuff, and someone on the team (I'm not sure who exactly) got it in their head that this could be a fun game unto itself. So EQ:N Landmark was born. The rest of the ideas just snowballed from there. The easiest way to describe them is:
Landmark - Make anything you want (within guidelines) anywhere you want. 1 continent will be restricted to Norrathian themed creation. Everything else is fair game.
EQ: Next - Norrathian-based Fantasy MMO.
I'm not on the team so I can really comment more, but it DOES seem like there is still some confusion about the differences between the two, hence my post.
Next livestream Wed Dec 11th 4pm PST about "more in-game building, as well as discuss other features of Landmark, including information about harvesting/mining and character naming"

The entirety of alpha is likely to be under a big fat NDA, so letting the press in who are not willing to pay at this point is not really in their best interest. You could hold out for a beta press invite, though.
