I'm hoping they drop the alpha on the 25th. That way they would actually have a somewhat "living" world when they show it on the 31st. Wishful thinking, probably.

They've mentioned early in that stream that at the event they are not using alpha servers to show off the game.

I'm hoping for it this month but I doubt it.

@DaveGeorgeson: Hey #EQN Trailblazers! Heads-up. 64-bit OS is highly suggested for Alpha. 64-bit lets us access all your memory. Alpha isn't optimized yet. We'll post min specs soon. Just giving heads-up so you can decide whether to upgrade if you're XP or Win 7 32-bit OS. And update those video card drivers! (hehe. Always the biggest source of bugs in every playtest ever.

So are people having a meltdown on the alpha forums for not knowing ahead of time they need a 64 bit OS? Hopefully most would already have right?

I am surprised that it is 64bit only as it seems that should have been something in giant red letters anywhere there was info about the alpha induction. I have no issues with it as I have Win 8.1.

The announcement doesn't say anything like it's 64bits only, just that it's unoptimized as shit and a 64bits OS would run the game better with the same hardware than a 32bits could. That's all they said. There is really no complaining to do.

I only see one thread that hasn't even reached a second page yet and it's mostly filled with people saying that EQL shouldn't compromise for 32 bit systems.

My bet is the people who still have a 32 bit OS are the people who probably don't actually know they have a 32 bit OS (and probably arn't even aware there's a difference). I bet on the first few days of alpha you'll see several 'this game runs like shit' threads.

He updated his tweet and said 64bit is required to play the alpha. that's why I was curious. You can't play if you have 32 bit.

Sadly there are some who are running XP and 32 bit Vista (shudder) complaining about having to pay to upgrade their OS.

Oh that sucks then. Well don't care either way since I have a 64bits OS AND I didn't buy it, but I guess I'd be angry if I was still using my XP PC. It died a few weeks ago though, and I was only using it to stream shit on my TV anyway. I used XP for a long time but come on, at some point you need to forget about that shit.
