The entertainment industry isn't responsible for consumers having to upgrade their media utilities. XP came out in 2001 and MS is going to stop even supporting it in Jan 2016.

Oh I'm right there with you Quaid. I was amused at reading the thread where there were those

A. Still using XP for gaming. (my 4 year olds junk laptop I fixed from parts and some clients we have who define cheap/backwards are the only XP machines I still have to touch.)

B. Actual griping about buying a new OS when they just dropped the 60/100 for the alpha.

Ok I was wondering if something was wrong with me and am glad to see I'm not the only one not visiting there often. I'm genuinely interested in the game , looking forward to the alpha that I bought , and obviously enjoy bs'ing on message boards about such things. But I've posted a total of 3 times over there (twice to pimp Pantheon , once on a PVP thread). And maybe even read the forums a total of 10-15 mins. Just something about the current crowd posting there made me feel "odd".

Of course feeling uncomfortable reading the EQL alpha forums but feeling comfortable here might say something about me...........

Gonna guess Alpha announcement/start is this week or early next week, if only to prep for the big celebration on the 31st. Nothing kills a celebration like dead, untested servers.

So far Georgeson has tweeted 64 bit OS required, 4gb of RAM minimum/ 8gb recommended and at least a GTX 275

That's why EQNL will never have the Minecraft success they're dreaming of. Well, one of the reasons. That's not a bash in any regard, but Minecraft can run on a calculator. Landmark's popularity will be hindered because it requires more than a calculator to run it.

Agree with you about there will be much screaming. What are we talking about though, 500 bucks worth of parts to beat those specs be a decent margin even ?

I don't feel for anyone who drops 60-100 on alpha and wants it to run on the XP core duo laptop.

You can pick up a gtx 650ti for less than the price of a trailblazer pack.

At some point you have to upgrade your computer. As a gamer, that is even more important. Asking people to upgrade to the current decade of reqs? Shouldn't really be an issue. This isn't like VG where it asked some dedicated horsepower. This just asks for some updates over the past decade.

If I remember correctly EQ was one of the first to require a 3d card. I was all ready and set with my 2 Voodoo2's in SLI , but I remember folks actually having to go out and buy one to play it. It was considered quite a "cutting edge" thing to require at the time.

I didn't know there was SLI technology back in 1999

The first time I heard about SLI was years after N'Vidia buying Voodoo.
