Dahkoht your rig must have been really impressive for its time.Wikipedia says it was first introduced with the Voodoo 2 in 1998, so that sounds plausible, even though I wasn't aware they had SLI that early either.
I remember getting a monster 3d card for it, then maybe a Voodoo banshee at release. Dat nostalgia. If I remember correctly EQ was one of the first to require a 3d card. I was all ready and set with my 2 Voodoo2's in SLI , but I remember folks actually having to go out and buy one to play it. It was considered quite a "cutting edge" thing to require at the time.
There's always tons of bitching...with anything. Par for the course and I'm glad they have some sets of boundaries.I've been looking at the Steam Hardware survey to get an idea of how much of a problem my be looming in SoE's future. Some of that shit is pretty shocking. 50% of Steam users are at 4gb of RAM or less. Video cards don't look too bad although I'm a bit surprised to see that about 10% of machines are using built in laptop cards. Obviously that won't be a direct translation over to an MMO but I have a feeling we're in for some real bitching once Alpha hits.
What are they thinking? "If it turns out it's desirable"? Group projects and screwing around with friends/guild is a huge thing that people will very obviously want.sony_sl said:Q: Can other people join their claim to mine?
A: Initially there will be a buffer space between different owners' claims, for performance purposes. This is something we're going to evaluate during Alpha. If it turns out it's something that's highly desirable, we'll investigate further what we can do to make it possible.
Q: Will there be guild claims?
A: We know this is something there's a lot of interest in, but we are focusing on the details of individual claims for the moment and will save guild discussions for further into the future.
