@Hekotat - yeah that always leads to my disappointment. As for Dave Georgeson, I have had a real dislike for him with all of the tinkering in EQ2. But he has really grown on me - what I once thought was "slick used-car salesman" has turned into "super passionate about game design".
And @Dahkoht and Fedor - ofc he comes across as not knowing much about MMORPG's! He is brand management! I think he is the perfect foil to all of the otherwise socially retarded game developers that really, really,reallyneed someone like him to bring some personality and humanity to the roundtables.
I don't know about you guys, but I remember the "couch sessions" with their old PR team for EQ2 and EQ....*shudder*. It was like watching some of the neckbeards from this forum on their basement couch with a bright light on talking about what makes their hobby special. No thanks.

He seems basically stupid on the subject of the game and still lacking social skills to me, nothing about Omeed screams "personality and humanity" at all.

Meh - I think he is like an adorable gay cherub. Pretty harmless, and I find him funny. BTW I am a straight man, but my gay-dar is pretty accurate having grown up and lived in the SF Bay Area most of my life before moving to the east coast. Might have to check with Kuriin though, he would know for sure.

I am a converted fan as well. After the EQ Live/announcement event I was cold on him, but watching him repeatedly over time talk about the game, he has certainly grown on me. He gave one "interview" to a guy in a parking lot that I saw and was really gracious and charitable in possibly not the best of circumstances.

That was awesome! Why don't MMOs ever do weather this way? Sadly, an Everquest thunderstorm still comes closest to the weather in that vid, with the impaired vision, rain, thunder and lightning.
This is the first team in awhile that has managed to convince me they actually like making the game they are making. Prolly since we got sold the bill of goods on AOC. So thats why I like them, even if they are all quirky dorks.

You know how hard it is for me to like Ponytail? But you know, a lot of you are right, he's really handled EQ, EQII, and EQNext over the last few months exceptionally well. From a marketing perspective it has been far more diligent than most over the last couple of years.
