Assuming my account still exists I am still rocking a Blade of Carnage / prismatic weapon from velious, along with the 2HB that slowed enemies for when my warrior ass had to solo shit. Miss the hell out of the experience but tried more recently and had no idea how to work at getting current.

Glad people are still playing the new shit though, made my late teens and early 20s addicted as a motherfucker.

Edit: may have been primal offhand, really cant remember.

All my old characters ended up deleted due to reusing the heroic character thing on them all years later lol

Only OG char I have left is a wizard I made when my eldest daughter was born back in 2002, played a bit here and there, was 36 hours from arriving at hospital to delivery, I think I even had to pay to have it, as you just plugged an ethernet cable into the wall like hotels used to do. (wuts WIFI) Odd nerdy memory, but never do anything with that character.

Guild of the year, what are the requirements? Able to breath and sit in one place for 23 hours stright?

You forgot to mention that it's a "25 year old game" like everyone else does when downplaying somebody's achievements.

I had Fading on my podcast this week and we talked about the Guild of the Year thing at length.

So yea. I live "under a rock" apparently. Never heard of the dude, I dont think...? But watched his Outer Brood video and yea, its pretty good. What he really points out to me is that I really need to play past POP. I have no idea why Harla Dar, Vulak, etc. are all alive in this expansion and its probably common knowledge at this point.

EQ lore is very hit or miss post Omens. I generally dislike and discount anything that retcons old lore. DoDH-SoF was great though. I’m not sure what’s been going on the last like 5 expansions though.

How many AAX does auto grant give these days with paid sub and how many are total now? (12K?)

I played a lot THJ recently and somehow I developed an itch replaying those EQ expansions 10-20 I missed on live but I don't want to multibox and grind AA for 6 months straight to be able to function.

Nothing lore-wise past SoF is particularly interesting to me (SoD is cool because I like muramites, though time-travel is a bit much for EQ). I think the height of the game lore is really in that DoDH to SoF space of time. As for the last few, I don't think we're missing anything, they seemed pretty bad.

I did like the Velious remake's story, for what existed anyway. I think Velious gets nuked by Vulak and said nuke turns everything into super-zombies. They were definitely inspired by Game of Thrones / White Walkers for that one, and could have done a lot more with the idea.

Still waiting for the other shoe to drop with Kerafyrm and the four Crusaders who locked him away. You fight the four Crusaders in COV to get an audience with Yelinak, who then takes your side against Vulak (as Vulak went too far with his nuking of the continent). No mention of Kerafyrm though. If Vulak wanted to really do some damage he would have broken Kerafyrm out of prison, but I guess he's just as terrified of Kera as the rest of the dragons are.

Yeah I feel exactly the same with SoD. Zones and mobs are cool, enjoy the discordians, but too much time travel.

Really great episode. I saw Fading on The Weather Channel a few months ago when FL was getting hit by all the hurricanes. I was like, "holy shit, that's the EQ guy".

This was pretty tough before I realized you can zoom in.

That's much better. Also it's interesting to see the world as a set of zone maps.

Given how huge the Karanas are compared to the rest of the world, it looks to me like they started out focused on making the world as huge as possible (Qeynos and the zones around it were the first thing they made) and then scaled things down to the more compact designs of the rest of the world. Imagine a world where they didn't come to their senses, the Karana zone design continued to be applied to the rest of the world, and the entire game is just one zone after another of massive fields.

Well they did make that game, it was called Star Wars Galaxies, and it blew donkey nuts.

I don't know shit about classic zones, so did better than I expected (also they gave me some easy shit like here's a pic of fucking CT right next to the hourglass!). No idea how the hell I got that Temple of CT one, though. Was just a barren fucking hallway.

I know classic zones the best> i had one that was just a cave system but I could barely see a bear nose and knew it was in the tunnels of Surefall Glade. Like..no one goes back in there.

Got just a straight wall. Thought the pattern was from Highhold Keep. But nope. It was a fucking shop inside of old freeport. The rest I got were fairly easy. Like the door into the keep in Crushbone. Or all the Troll trainers. Or the path in West Karana looking at the mountain.

I struggle to remember real estate codes for habitable living that I work with every fucking day. But a fucking 26 year old game? Pfftt ez.
