Eminence in Shadow is an especially odd parody because not once does it ever do something that would communicate that it's a parody.

It has some massive reveal and the main character just completely ignores it and you're sitting there like what the fuck? Then it has some nonsense where he tells you he learned to play the Moonlight Sonata just to have more dramatic entrances and you're left realizing that the show MUST be fucking with you. Which it is.

Yeah, I dropped Parry Everything halfway through at the demon kid episode when I realized everyone in the show had their own "oblivious" thing and they were spreading it on reeeeaally thick.

I dont know why but I started rewatching the original Trigun and I forgot how amazing the soundtracks were in anime during that time frame.

It's a pretty widely shared opinion. Not only is it ranked #1 on MAL but it's leading FMAB by an incredibly wide margin when you compare it to how close together the others are. I'm not counting that One Piece thing currently at #2 because it just came out last month and probably wont even be in the top 50 by the end of the year.

This list has Steins:Gate over HxH and AOTS? Dont get me wrong, i loved Freiren but im never going to put a 1 season show over a series thats managed to last as long as OP. People can say all the random hate that they want (not talking you) but we may never get another series to last/perf as good as OP.

Sucks the creator of Guin Saga died, id have loved to see all of that animated - They also need to do Berserk justice and get it all animated.

I could go for more Claymore also - manga was legit.

Each individual season is a separate entry so the various seasons of AoT are all over the place. HxH is rated 9.03 which is still in the top 10 and a very exclusive club since only 12 entries have a rating over 9 and 4 of them are different Gintama shows. Even Season 3 of Kaguya falls just barely short at 8.99.

I'd say this: it's too early to put frieren has the best anime ever. Does it have potential for it? Absofuckinglutely. The 28 episodes we just got were absolutely flawless, pacing was incredible, story telling was S tier, the world is amazing etc.

But what if Season 2 sucks? It's too early to tell.

If it stays the course with quality, it will no doubt be the best anime that ever aired for a while. The fact it does everything right while completely avoiding the usual japanese tropes (you know what i'm talking about. Incel shit, sister loving, weird Japanese fucking nonsense) AND while having a power system that makes sense (like Nen in HxH) is truly a testament of how good it is.

it's very funny and it's an acquired taste.

Some of the jokes will fly right above your head unless you're japanese, but 99 percent are just fine to understand.

Edit: Christ over 8 entries in the top #25 are some anime or movie form of Gintama. My fucking jam.

If season 2 is the same length, we should get through the entire El Dorado arc, which is outstanding.

Unfortunately, I don't think we have enough for a 3rd season yet.

CR is the only streaming service I pay for now. Dropped Netflix, don't count Prime because I sure as shit wouldn't pay for Prime streaming on its own, and D+ I'm leeching my sister's login. Also have Max but it's been baked in to my Comcast Xfinity for 10 yrs now, pretty sure it was HBO for free back then and I just never changed my plan. Lucky for me Max has gotten better and better over time.

I still do CR and Netflix. I get Max free by working for a telecomm company. Prime is free with my annual shipping fee. I get a lo0t of shit with Amazon. The annual sub usually pays itself off in 2-3 months.

To be honest, this season is pretty boring. Nothing has really grabbed my interest, though I'll bing watch Dandadan and Re:zero when they are done. I fear that Freiren might have spoiled anime for me in the near term (though I'm excited for S2 of Solo Leveling) in the same that Stellar Blade has spoiled action games. Odd state of mind to be in!
