I liked every arc of OP except Moria - OP is possibly my favorite anime series outside of HxH - Sure there are alot of good and banging new series - but name another anime that was able to pull off as many episodes that are NOT filler. Naruto had alot of episodes but that shit had some massive filler arc - not as shitty as bleach but I remember Naruto having like a 3-4 year stretch of filler before Shipuuden or something.
Frieren. Not a single filler episode out the current 28. Will that change? Dunno.

OP is the greatest cause its got the best characters. I forgot how good they all work together. The last two arcs they have mainly been separated and it fucking suffered because of it. I forgot how good the humor is when they're all just fucking around.

Frieren is the best anime ever made but there's lot of other great ones. Right now, the combo of Dandadan, Re-Zero, DanMachi, Greatest Talker, Arifureta, and Rurouni Kenshinon within about the same day is a fantastic way to waste a few hours every week.

It's a pretty widely shared opinion. Not only is it ranked #1 on MAL but it's leading FMAB by an incredibly wide margin when you compare it to how close together the others are. I'm not counting that One Piece thing currently at #2 because it just came out last month and probably wont even be in the top 50 by the end of the year.

I like that song too and I rarely listen to the intros. Dandadan is the easiest of those to watch universally. Most of those are continuing series so you would need to play catch up to really get it. Hope you like them.

I still solidly stand on my opinion that its not the best anime ever made, but it is the most widely appealing anime ever made. It's definitely a top shelf product all around, so I wont hate on someone who thinks its the best anime ever. I'd definitely put it in my top 5.

I'd personally put HunterxHunter(2011) over it but Frieren is easily a top 5 regardless.

I am a HUGE HxH fan. But it has some HUGE lulls and pacing issues. Also animation wise it's ups and down. Some scenes are up there, but some are really bad.

I'd say this: it's too early to put frieren has the best anime ever. Does it have potential for it? Absofuckinglutely. The 28 episodes we just got were absolutely flawless, pacing was incredible, story telling was S tier, the world is amazing etc.

But what if Season 2 sucks? It's too early to tell.

If it stays the course with quality, it will no doubt be the best anime that ever aired for a while. The fact it does everything right while completely avoiding the usual japanese tropes (you know what i'm talking about. Incel shit, sister loving, weird Japanese fucking nonsense) AND while having a power system that makes sense (like Nen in HxH) is truly a testament of how good it is.

What I found to be so striking about Frieren was the Directing. I don't know if there was only 1 Director for all 28 episodes, or a team, either way they managed to keep the pacing perfect, and to date, Frieren is the only series I recall where every episode felt better than the last. They worked some magic in adapting it to anime.

Yep. Good directing often gets left out when talking about anime adaptations. I said the same thing when praising Frieren. Easily the best directing of any anime. However Im not giving it my top spot just because it's not finished and it's not got anything that tops Miruem from hunter x hunter... yet. The dwarf story got close. I'm a sucker for a good heart string in a story and HxH just obliterates the feels in the conclusion to that ant arc.

Elf maidens are my religion.

In my catchup efforts I've started on Bocchi and I really really like it. It does music stuff better than K-on, and I love and relate to the introvert humour.

Overlord is good. Samurai Champloo as well. Hai to Gensou no Grimgar ruled as well. That's an Isekai one, and the animation is almost water colors. But it's a real good story about a group of weak adventurers.
Baby Steps was a badass show about tennis. Not like Prince of Tennis. This is a lot more believable, and set in a middle school world. If you like that, I suggest a newer Soccor show as well called Ao Ashi. Also set in middle school. And finish it off with every season and movie of Haikyu!! (it's about high school volleyball)

Excellent Shangri-La Frontier & MF Ghost episodes today. MF Ghost is very entertaining for me, even if I could never race a car. And Shangri-La just reminds me of all my EQ & WoW days, to a degree.

Realize I'm a bit late but Parry Everything is fucking retarded. I mean it's still pretty funny but eventually it starts to just get too absurd that Noor could be that stupid/oblivious and everybody just plays along with his asinine assumptions.

Ossan Newbie Adventurer did the "blockhead who doesn't realize how strong he is" shtick much better.

I'm pretty sure Parry is genre satire. It's not an antithesis, it's actual satire.

Even when they show his ridiculous training regiment where he hangs inanimate objects and shouts "parry".

It's pretty ridiculous and kinda hilarious. It's literally making fun of the genre.

Sure but the show really doesn't lay it on thick enough which means it's kind of straddling the line between making fun of OP protagonists and being just another mediocre OP protagonist anime itself. Eminence in Shadow is how you make genre parody work.

That's just Japanese culture. It's hard to Parody stuff that is already so outrageously stupid on its own. Ranma isn't parody... so how would you parody that? You try to sell it as almost serious.

The japs are just fuckin weird. Which is also why anime is fun to watch.

Every single sport anime is wild. "Hey what if there was an underground world of cutthroat mafia golfing? But it was only women who did it? That's definitely a TV show"
