Not sure if the graphics are stylized or if they're actually thinking about being able to scale the graphics down REAL LOW for ios/android play down the line.

Clearly the protagonist is the dog. Of course you shitlords would assume the white man the dog is protecting is it though.

If all this is ends up being is an updated clone of FO3, I will still feel it money well spent. The story I really wanted to see in game (Van Buren) got partially used in Old World Blues, so I am not getting that wish. The game is all about the backstory and atmosphere, which that trailer conveyed in spades. Whole lotta knees too sharp in this thread....

The one big thing I hope for from FO4 is they really try to have a 'survival' mode where you're constantly scrounging for ammo, food etc to survive. Then again recent games (rust et all) have kind of filled that niche.
You mean like modders already did for FO3 and NV? Why waste development time on a niche game mode when modders will have it done within a couple months of release.

Oh I'll play the fuck out of it don't get me wrong. Steam says I spent 230+ hours on skyrim and I KNOW I played FO/NV more than that.

Kinda worried if steam workshop's marketplace ruins Beth's mod scene from this game onwards tho. It can really go either way, but if any community produces the volume of mods to actually bootstrap a healthy marketplace, it would the FO/TES community.

Because while modders can do some things, and I very much enjoyed their efforts, they can't make it a survival horror game with the same level of breadth as the game makers can.

FONV was a good example, there was so much shit everywhere that having sparse amounts goods was impossible. The player is pretty much in the land of plenty once they enter New Vegas and never really leaves that state.

The Witcher 3 demonstrated that graphics may not negatively impact storytelling potential, but they can certainly enhance it. Something tells me the 3D models and dialogue won't be nearly as expressive or emotionally believable due to the graphical limitations of Gamebryo (if that is indeed the engine they're using).
So did fucking GTA 5. Even Skyrim looked decent at the time. Also this is not Stylized graphics like Borderlands was doing with its comic book style.People need to stop with that excuse.

When people say graphics don't matter on a new game that isn't some indie throwback, I want to punch them in the face...

I wouldn't worry about this, though I'm sure Todd Howard will be inundated with questions about it. Hopefully he anticipates that enough to give the real answer of, "FO4 will be as open, or even more open than FO3 and Skyrim. We'll work with the Steam Workshop for our mods, but won't require you to use Steam Workshop for it."

Graphics that look 5 years old , look good to me. Graphically, we're in the realm of diminished marginal utility there. I'd prefer AAA focus on making character animation more life-like + developing facial expressions to accurately make the face the emotions the character is expressing.

Except they are not doing any of that look at the human figures alone in that trailer. Animations look mediocre as fuck.

If you want to do something with low rez textures, at least give it some life like The Last of Us.

And if people say it cant be done in such a big world, GTA 5 did it. That game still looks good even today.

F3 was Bethesda and FNV was Obsidian right ? I'd have preferred them letting Obsidian roll with F4, I enjoyed FNV a lot more than F3.

My guess is that Bethesda is going to completely phone it in and crank out what is basically just a reskinned FO3.

Would love to be proven wrong though.

Doubtful that Obsidian is very eager to put themselves in that position again after the FONV fiasco.

At least not with a Metacritic clause that some faggot at Polygon can ruin because the game isn't "diverse" enough for his tastes.

Plus the misogynist patriarchal shitlords at Bethesda keep insisting on using male skeletons and animations for all their female characters. I'm actually surprised there isn't rioting in the streets over this one, seeing as they've been doing it at least back to Oblivion, and I believe Morrowind as well.

Yeah I don't see Obsidian ever wanting to work with Bethesda again.
There's an article where Obsidian said they would still like to do another Fallout. I do believe they mentioned they learned a lot(which means they won't take a contract to kill themselves releasing it in a year).

On my phone but found it: http://m.ign.com/articles/2013/02/13/obsidians-pitch-for-fallout-new-vegas-2

The graphics aren't fantastic, but anyone that thinks they look like (unmodded) Fallout 3 is literally delusional.

I still think Boston is a bad idea - too similar geographically and historically to D.C. - and still think prequels are almost always a bad idea, as we know where the story ends*.

*I mean, you can do interesting things, like the prequel character is building the later-corrupted fortress the present-day character is trying to break into / overthrow, but that sounds a bit too subtle for a Bethesda plotline.

Edit: Do we know for sure when this is (last) set? Colors suggest post-GECK, but zombies in the store suggest not.
