I liked the relative emptyness of F3, as well as the radio stations. However, the green hue over everything did get irritating fast.

yeah. people are seriously recommending someone skip FO3/NV in favor of a day 1 Bethesda purchase on a game not out yet? for real? preorder-day 1 on a game buggy as HEEEEEEELL?
come on. 2015 no more preorders. Wait till the game is patched up at least.
Prepare to be jealous when I'm enjoying FO4 while you're sitting here just... waiting...

So should I keep my pipboy preorder edition or cancel it bros?
You should keep it and resell it if you really don't want it.

Don't be dumb. Those things will be going for 600-1200 dollars in a month after the game launches.

You can always buy the game digitally on pc or ps4 or xbox one if you want to play it but don't want the whole pipboy edition. Canceling the preorder will leave you saying

Just because you have Gob as your avatar doesn't mean you need to make the same mistakes he would!

FUCKING 18 DAYS TO GO YOU COCK SUCKING FAGGOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I CANNOT FUCKING WAIT!!!!!

Im so damn hyped that i have been watching that 22 minute gameplay video daily just to rub one out.

Fallout 4 will require a Steam download, even if you buy it on disc - PC Gamer

I haven't bought a physical copy of a game in quit some time because PC is the master race and refuse to buy physical copies of console games because most if not all new releases now a days can be downloaded anyways. Their excuse is to combat piracy , but shit i remember having Skyrim WAY before it being released on my modded 360. So what would be the real reason for them to do this , cause they cant really be serious that it really is to combat piracy?

Skyrim was the same way.

They announced years ago they were going to be doing this, when they shifted away from Games for Windows Live

That's normal for Steamworks games, and it's hardly news. I'm pretty sure Skyrim even had the same kind of installer on the disc. Basically they put up the same files as what you get from pre-loading the digital version, then you need Steam to give you the main executable and to decrypt everything else once the game is officially live. This makes piracy impossible prior to release day.

Oh to stop the early releases of the game, makes sense. It still will be pirated after the fact , so that really doesnt stop it from being pirated. Just prevents an early release of a pirated version. Well could care less , but still a dumb thing to do when if im not mistaken lot of you rednecks have to use DSL and have data caps so it kinda fucks you over in that regard as essentially you are paying more then 60 bucks for the game because you have to use some of your bandwidth to play the game using a disc install. I believe thats what the writer of the article was trying to convey , shrug i think its a dumb decision. I mean sure Skyrim went on to sell millions but , maybe it could of been more or not.

Was just curious , how someone with a DSL connection and a monthly data cap feels about this or if they even care?

It should only be like a 100MB download, tops, unless there's a major difference between the files on the DVDs and the files that people pre-load. The day 1 patch that pretty much every game has these days will probably be an order of magnitude larger.

Well, it also says "DVDs" in the article. It's possible that Zenimax decided to save a few bucks. They didn't with Skyrim, but from what I'm reading Wolfenstein shipped in 4 DVDs, installed 30GB of the game, and then downloaded like 12GB more from Steam. That would probably be the situation I mentioned above though, where the pre-load had some fairly big changes after the game went gold. You'd be downloading that as a patch either way.

I still don't think the person who wrote that article understands how Steamworks works. The goal isn't to stop piracy, it's to stop the game from leaking prior to the street date.

That's what I was wondering. I've never really resold CE games like that, where's the best place to do it, eBay?

Probably. You could probably also sell it on amazon. People do that a lot, I dont know how successful they are, but the prices always seem a lot higher so someone has to be buying this shit on there.

Forcing people to use steam has the upside of making it easier for casual gamers to get patches and also be exposed to steamworks. Both are huge wins for Bethesda games that are released in an unfinished state.

I wish I could cryosleep until release day.

Have you guys had any issues with Amazon pre orders in the past? I've heard stories ranging from people getting their game the day before to getting it a few days late. I have next day delivery on FO4 Pip Boy Edition but I'm hoping that doesn't mean I'm going to get the game a whole day after launch.
