Gumi seems very reluctant to release the Orlandu banner just yet. It might actually be a couple more months.

Events tend to follow a pattern. We get a King Mog event which is grinding intensive. It's, generally, worth spending all of your NRG on these events until you buy everything you want with the currency dropped from the event stages. These last two weeks where you can grind the event and then the vortex closes. However King Mog stays open for an additional week to give players a chance to cash in. During this 3 week period there will only be that one King Mog event / redemption and will never overlap with a second King Mog. During this period we will usually get an Exploration style event similar to the current II event. These are one and done. Once you clear it there is no reason to go back.

Now with that said there are two King Mog event sprites and files datamined. The next one should be a second Final Fantasy Type Zero event (and it sounds like Ace and Seven give a bonus from the last one but Jack and Trey do not). The other event with datamined files is the Bravest Frontier collaboration. So that would put us a minimum of 7 weeks out for the Orlandu banner.

So I could have sword I saw someone with a dark debuff built into one of there attacks. Can't find and heading to the airport but anyone know off hand who might that have been? Staring at DKC's massive TM w/ dark and Delita's decent TM (need to check if I have him, have a 5 star DCK), wouldn't that make for a very strong combo. Or am I dreaming on someone having dark debuff, looked through my mages again that I thought had but no luck.

New people will need to pull for Zidane(s), but I think Player's Choice will be weak for those of us who've been playing a long time. People are too short-sighted and dumb to vote for Ramza, I already have every 4* that might possibly appear, and I wouldn't say no to a 4th Dual Wield, but honestly I'd rather have an Abel or two when his banner rolls around.

As for a finisher, 'need' is a pretty damn strong word to use. You really don't 'need' a finisher when you're chaining Orlandu. Shit already hits like a freight train.
But I want to win in as few turns as possible, ideally just 1. Unless you can OTK something with just Orlandu x2 a finisher is the best use of a slot.

There's plenty of dark debuffs already out, and incoming. Marie has the 40% to everything. Cupid Artemios has 35% dark imperil. Shine (tomorrow) has a 50% dark imperil. Garland's 6* form has a 50% dark imperil that improves to 75% after enhancements. The king of dark imperil is Dark Cecil after enhancements, where he gives 100% dark imperil, which is also on an innately dark attack that hits for 750% damage (best finisher in game after his update).

For all the talk about Orlandu being only about holy, keep in mind his good chaining skill is element neutral. Just because it gives a free 50% holy imperil doesn't mean you're forced to go the holy route with him. If facing a holy resistant boss for example, you can still use his skill with any element weapon and build a big elemental chain. For example a fire chain with Chirijaeden, Save the Queen, and Ling's fire imperil on a holy immune boss, or Deathbringer / Moonblade and Dark Imperil's, etc etc.

Oh I guess I made the wrong assumption when I saw reduce all ele resists that it was the traditional elements and didn't cover dark/holy.

That changes a few things for me derpa derpa.

Had my first legit loss in arena today , still my fault as I fat fingered my emp who would have killed 3 people on there team that ultimately killed me but it was a team ranked 9000th and had some Heavy hitters.

Made me realize I better start refining my strat. So is it better to get focus out turn one on Cecil or provoke? 90% of my damage comes from emp and lightning. I can bring Marie along for a reflect and first round focus if it's better to get provoke out. Seems most good teams have some heavy magic hitters so spirit buff helps deal with that. I have dark F but until I get mats to evolve her , the main thing is the AE attack and def debut.

I'm sitting at 25k or so rank so I'll just try and keep some buffer to ensure I stay under 30k and start getting some coliseum knocked out again.

I had a loss this week which was complete bullshit, and I suspect it was a hacked team, but who knows.

I went first, and did my typical opening barrage, which was 4x meteor, 2x alterna, 2x thunder flask. After a few minor chains, that's around 8300 damage to the entire team. That opening burst killed not a single unit on their side. Then when the enemy team went, every single of the units did an AoE move and blew me the fuck up.

The guy was some asian name, and account level 70'ish or something on the lower end. How do units like Lightning and such have more than 8300 hp, and still geared well enough in dps to one round my team. Seems fishy, but I haven't seen that team since, so whatever.

Provoke does nothing in arena. Refine strat by getting to the point where you win on your first turn, every time.

I use Ling, Noctis, Exdeath *2, Chizuru, but there's tons of combinations that will work. My only requirement is that no one is allowed to trigger Cecil's cover. Bear in mind that you don't need tons of ATK or MAG for arena. My Exdeaths have 380 MAG, 4400 hp, and immunity to petrify and paralyze (which is guess is technically no longer needed since I raised Ling to 6*, and I could bump hp up a few hundred more). Noctis and Ling are up over 5k hp, Chizuru somewhere around 4300. They almost always hit for the full 999.

Your thunder flasks probably missed, which knocks 2k off your damage, and it doesn't take that much attack to trip 9.

His entire team surviving is fishy as fuck though. I've run into teams where a single unit could survive my opening salvo, but all 5? hell no.

That was the main thing that got me. I know it's easy to cap damage, and I don't have much evasion on my team, so all it really takes is 3 dualwielding units using their aoe to take me out. To survive though his entire team had to be stacked with hp +30% materia and such, which seems incredibly unlikely for a low'ish account level that probably TM grinded weapons/armor before fluff like +hp materia.

Or he injected.

From the sounds of things there there have been ban waves but they haven't come anywhere close to catching and banning all of the cheaters out there. Or as Ziss pointed out "shady Lapis." I've seen a couple of teams similar to the one you mentioned.

Eh, rank can be deceiving. One of the most whaled out people I know on JP is still in his 60s. Even in his 50s his arena team was a nightmare.

He has a 951 mag MFina on GL rofl

Hmm so provoke doesn't do anything ? Dafuq...see this is why I ask questions on here. I've been trying to research more online myself but so much info is wrong or unclear. The wiki clearly states provoke works in arena or do you mean it's worthless since so much are AE's?

I have some great units but no way I am 1 shooting anyone in the higher arena ranks that have full teams of 6 stars decked. Once I get Dark F and/or ExD evolved to 6 stars once mats are available in game again then I'll be in a better position but for now it's usually 2 rounds against the typical 20-30k rank team and up to 6-7 rounds against most the teams I try in the top 15k or so.

Been working so much I was going to go blow some steam off this weekend with a night out at the club or try and catch a NBA game but I'm thinking I'll just take that few hundred and go see if Olive wants to become pals....god I'm getting old.

I thought provoke did work in arena? Can't say I've ever actually used it though, I just read that somewhere (probably on the wiki like you).

One shotting the enemy team is definitely your end-goal for arena, but it takes a while to get there. My initial arena teams were super drawn out endurance battles where I'd use Refia/Cecil to heal up while I spent a few rounds osmosing the entire enemy team before even bothering to try to start dealing damage. That was also in an era where every team had Cecil + healers, so if you didn't one shot them, the AI would full heal and you would be back to square one.

These days everyone runs glass cannon setups, with Cecil on only a few teams (but hardly any in the upper ranks). It's kill them straight off, or risk being one-rounded yourself. It's especially risky on weeks where Blizzard Flask is allowed.

Back before I leveled up my Cecil I tried having Leo use it and the AI targeted other units. Bunch of people on reddit have confirmed it when using Snow too so I don't think it ever changed.

And yeah, Cecil is more of a rarity now, but it's not hurting me at all to use only magic/flasks/ignore def attacks. Eventually I'll drop the Chizuru for a third Exdeath, but I pretty much only level units with gigantuars and it's not exactly high on the list.

I see Cecil all the time in the top ranks. Annoying as fuck as I need a turn or 2 extra since I'm too lazy to change my Gilgamesh's gear. I should just finish my second Ling TM. Friend uses my Gilg so he can't sit with the Stone weapon all day.

Hoping that Gumi keeps up with the fucking over of Noctis. I just wish they'd outright perm block Stop.
