It’s jarring as fuck and you are far better off hoping it’s a bug that gets a day one patch than downplaying the obvious head turning bullshit everyone is talking about in it needing it to be fixed. Your excuse might carry more weight if other areas didn’t suffer from this, and in much less graphical intensive areas where game performance wouldn’t take a hit anyway.

Polygon review:

Remake is wildly uneven, poorly paced, and not entirely successful as a game in its own right.

Then they play through that video above.

But Remake is also the very best thing a game can be: fascinating. It forces us to confront our subjective tastes, and asks us to consider what we value in the games we play.

Nope. Load times were not effected and the textures didn’t pop in even when staring at the same spot for minutes. It stays like this throughout those areas. Could be a bug, could be a poor art asset copy from a previous game. SE hasn’t replied yet.

Chris shouldn’t be sparky boy downplaying it and would gain a lot more credibility in his undying excitement if he would acknowledge it and hope it’s a bug.

My point was it's a very strange thing to focus on. Many games do that

It’s jarring. To the point that you can’t help but notice and considering the world atmosphere and building seems on par, it seriously detracts from the experience of the game. And makes ZERO sense.

The game is not that graphically intensive to have to resort to this the maintain 30 frames on a PS Pro. It’s lack of any time to optimize at best and hopefully just bugs rather than shit art asset reuse.

I don't know, you can literally put battles into 1/100th speed slow mo to pick abilities and matrix spin the camera around with perfect framerate - but no matter how impressive that is there'll be people looking at the texture on a boiler in the background.

It's knees too sharp all over again.

I haven't noticed any of this stuff, I'm not looking at the quality of individual background objects in still screens. I'm looking at the whole in a moving scene as I'm playing.

Your excuse above doesn’t hold water. Half the time you are exploring the world even though it’s linear. It’s going to get noticed and you shouldn’t be making IGN excuses for it. These are PS2 era textures. And that’s fucking retarded. It isn’t like we are comparing textures on digital foundry between Ps Pro, X1X and PC and nit picking small details or shadow density in Witcher 3.

Nier automata runs at 4K 60 on X1X with textures mapped at fantastic levels and there is a hell of a lot more going on.

Agree that the low textures were pretty jarring in the demo. It’s noticeable in every game that it happens in. It’s especially jarring for me when they are low then pop in to higher because the change of the screen draws your attention. I really don’t like it but I also realize this generation is old now, hopefully that’s something that goes away next console generation.

It’s not game breaking for me, I play some Old games with really shorty graphics, but it is something I’d like to see disappear.

I’ll wait for the entire episode list to be released and then possibly buy it on sale for 19 bucks. Or just rent it on GameFly. Or pirate the thing on PC.

(Hopefully the texture issues are fixed in a patch)

Pretty hard not to see it when you throw a game into 4K HDR and see it’s leveraging fucking PS2 art assets sporadically. You won’t have to look for jack shit. It will be as clear as the shit smell on your Visa card your wife will complain about after you swiped it up SE’s ass.

Witcher 3 Xbox One X and I am sure after the 4K patch you can find one or two. We aren’t talking about one or two that might be a TAD off. We are talking about 75% of the game with object textures worse than 2003 to the point an entire article was written about it jarring their entire fucking experience with the game.

Not to take his side, because believe me... ugh, but this is a slightly different situation when it is a remake that was almost exclusively made to update the visuals of the original PS version. In this taking a moment to explore and see everything that was changed or is similar to a game you played (potentially repeatedly) makes slightly more sense.
