yea that sounds like kind of a mistake IMO. you want people trying it. but i guess they're dedicated to the existing players. hopefully their little 'extra space' time buying plan eases it enough that trial boys can play.

If you bought the Shadowbringers set when it was on sale for $20 bucks or whatever thats NOT the free trial, EVEN if you are on your free month. The trial is just the ARR and Heavensward thing. Im betting a lot of people bought the entire game when it was on sale (hell they even stopped selling digital copies of it), so they can see how many just trials there on and decided that getting people to resub was better long term then some dude who may lead to a full upgrade based on playing ARR and Heavensward

I appreciate the depth he went to explain the situation. They are kind of fucked with the semiconductor shortage. Having to do what they are doing with trials is a necessary evil. They should cut the login campaign short maybe too.
Now hire some devs to rewrite the Mogstation!

That was a really well written letter, and timely to boot. Typical Yoshi P, and you can sense his genuine concern. Not even a whiff of "corporate speak" in there.
Making the Trial players wait the longest, until the queues clear, really had to be the first choice. Imagine throttling new PAYING customer (many of whom likely to be WoW refugees) any more than they absolutely have to, let alone the veterans. Now that would have been a worse move.
He would have to have been a damn psychic, to predict the perfect storm of recent events. Also, can't wait for the new Oceanic Server to go live!

Even before all this, they had admitted getting additional servers was a big issue because of the semi conductor bullshit going on.

I feel like the current relic isn't near the grind/effort they were back in HW. At least if you're only doing it for a single class. Especially after all the nerfs they do/have done.
