??

are you fucking serious? You've got to be trolling now. Even you are not dumb enough to have been surprised by that obvious reveal.

Most people guessed the identity that paid attention/did the story in ARR, but the game made you second guess yourself a bunch of times.

Well crystal tower is required currently for ARR MSQ so everyone playing now has done it. I assume the prereqs change from time to time as they revamp/streamline older content so maybe players in the past who never did crystal tower wouldn't have known about it, since they have no idea what the crystal tower is.

the game never presented any other possibility so I never "second guessed" it, again maybe it was different when you played. I didn't think it warranted a prediction. If you want I shall make a few predictions and you can laugh at how wrong/off base I am:

You the main character are the 14th Ascian from the before time, the long long ago. You sided with hydalaen and noped out somehow during the cataclysm, maybe she sent you forward in time or something and you lost your memory or were split across various souls. This is where the echo comes from and everyone with the echo is pieces of you.

The students of balder whatever it's called. Krille is one of them. the island that vanishes in ARR? Did they ever address that again? like in some optional content that wasn't part of MSQ? If not I think they totally forgot about it. I predict they never mention it again. Like that was prolly going to be an expansion to find out what happened to the island and how it just vanished and then nothing, they made heavensward instead.

No matter what I do in this game, whether its saving a country a planet a solar system all of existence, it does not matter. Right after the NPC thanks me for saving all of creation the next thing out of his mouth will be a request to fetch him some wood or go pick up cow poop or clean his carpet for him.

Only one I know for certain is #3.

Crystal Tower wasn't made MSQ mandatory until like 5.1 I think. When ShB first launched, it was optional and dialogue options were different depending on whether or not your character ever completed the Crystal Tower raid series.

I strongly suspect they will make another one of the trial/raid series MSQ mandatory in the future as well

Edit: The disappearing Island you reference is followed up on if you do Eureka, which is 100% optional content. And you might love it if you thought EQ1 was the pinnacle of MMOs, since you can't solo for shit and XP gains are slow as fuck and you just camp rare mobs all day. The final raid in the zone is also more or less a "perma death" raid.

Also consider that it's possibly been close to 6+ years for a ton of people since they saw him last.

well according to neramja if you see an npc once for a split second you should remember them and everything about them even hundreds of hours and thousands of NPCs later.

Yeah it had been several years, the raid wasn't mandatory so I hadn't done it. I switched main from White Mage to Gunbreaker for Shadowbringers, so I unlocked it for the Alliance Roulette exp and skipped most of the cut scenes.

welp I guess my prediction was too easy since 5.3 all but confirmed it. I'm sure the details are different but clearly the 14th Ascian has some connection to the main character. Guess i'll go wilder with my predictions. Let's see. We're all dead/clones/in a simulation or something. "Hear, Feel, Think" is Hydaelans (or maybe Zodiarks?) words when she created us. Automatons given purpose with that command. maybe the final days ended with all life being wiped out or sacrificed to create Zodiark/Hydaelan to save the world and then fix the world...and Zodiark and Hydaelan being primals based on faith/salvation, recreated people as memories/shells so they would continue to have a purpose. Every time we die our aether is recycled to create another person so that they would have worshippers/have a purpose for existing.

1.5 out of 5 but the ones you got right I'm pretty sure have already been confirmed to you.

Also Sylas Sylas do the Eden raids now, it's a third finale to Shadowlands storywise (Emet and Elidibus being the others) and it's the most modern complete raid series.

Some of those bosses are outstanding and beat anything I did in WoW.

You suffered to unlock this stuff so get it unlocked (big town in Ahm Areng I think - the Shadowbringers desert zone).

Well not knowing which is which im going wih simulation. Let me guess, we're in the matrix? Morpheus is hydalaen? Its all just an allegory for trans? We're really a hideous, unpassable womxn trapped in a fat bearded man's body?

Whats next? Rocket ships? Are we going to fly through a blackhole? Visit the moons of Jupiter? Ohh we're going to the upside down? Plot twist, we're in the upside down already, we're going to escape to the real world.

I have a theory about this game that ill post later when im not on my phone. Spoiler alert, you may get offended. Its not my intention.

Your giving me too much credit im just paraphrasing from the search results of "most absurd shark jumps in modern media"
Theres some interstellar in there, some vidja games like luclin, some poorly adapted twilight zone/black mirror concepts, etc

well I finished 5.3 which seat of sacrifice was a fun fight and seemed like a good ending for eldibus/shadowbringers. It seems like the next few (5.4, 5.5, 5.55) will just be setting up endwalker which follows all previous expansions format so, barring some crazy development, now is as good a time as any to score shb. The next 3 post shb patches could ruin it of course but for now i'd give the post shb content a 4.5/10. Epic shark jumping of the overall plot not withstanding, the main detractor is the fucking dead kid from alison's intro story. This is just glaringly shitty continuity trying to make up for bad writing in the intro.

At the beginning you are introduced to 3 patients who are infected with light aether corruption. The first is recently infected and shows little signs, maybe 20% of the way to death. The 2nd is losing color/turning white but he is still ambulatory and can still speak, he's maybe 50% infected. The final one is the kid who you are sent out to gather his last meal as they will poison him and end his suffering before he turns into a sineater, solid white, catatonic, cannot even speak. he's 99% infected, on death's door, hours to live.

When we catch up to these people in the post shb content, weeks/months later, first guy appears to be now 50% infected, turning white/trouble speaking, but 2nd guy, he's now completely white, catatonic, and unable to speak. he is clearly 99% infected at this point, these patients have continued to deteriorate indicating that time has continued to pass before you were able to expel the excess light aether and halt the progress of their infection. Which of course means the kid that started at 99% has been dead for weeks/months and stupid ladies sacrifice was meaningless. Except nope, he was frozen in stasis somehow and is still alive, because this game cannot follow it's own logic.

Overall i'd rank Shadowbringers 4/10, and it pains me to say this, but the same as stormblood. Shb clearly has better writing/dialogue than stormblood but stormblood benefited from a much tighter plot and pacing, established stakes, and more interesting villains. It's a simpler story, but told well enough to compete with a better written, but ultimately so convoluted story that it loses meaning.

Post SHB is pretty good, they just started the plot Endwalker early, it's not even setup.
