I bought the Collectors Edition for 1.0 for 5 bucks and some change from Game Stop. Havent paid a penny more, so far. Would definitely recommend people look for an old 1.0 copy if they are looking.

Is this even going to last long enough for me to bother with server transfers when they open up? :p

Seeing as there is nothing on the horizon worth a fuck, Id say yes. We have Wildstar coming up middle of next year. From waht Ive been hearing its not all that, at least what they have right now. And then we have TESO, which is due at about the same time? Dont really know but reports of that are not so hot either. We had a wow patch, but IMO the servers are not getting any emptier yet. Maybe when WoW gets an expansion out? SWTOR is hinting about a space expansion/patch so that should be interesting....

there will probably be a obvious falloff after the free month. But how much is yet to be seen. I would like to see how many more folks will buy this game now that the digital sales are on again. I think that will be a good measure of this games hotness and word of mouth.

But for now I just dont see anything better. The true test will be what they give us in 2.1 and when that will be.

2.1 is supposed to introduce The Wolve's Den.. which is PVP, which im almost certain will be awful with their combat system.
2.5 second GCD, and that feel of latency.. have fun getting kited around by archers, and not interupting anything, ever.

Also Housing as well, and some other shit like fates & another difficulty to the current raids?

I believe this is what they mentioned at PAX anyway

Long gone are the days of people having patience of you know.. progressing through... progress content.
Yeah, I know my statement might seem slightly off there, not wanting to farm a zone for two months to kill the final boss of it. Taking that long to work through some gigantic 12 boss 25man raid zone to kill the final boss is fine. It took a long while to work through something like Black Temple and it makes sense with a big raid zone.

Coil, sadly, is a TINY zone. A very tiny 8 man, extremely small scale raid zone. There is almost no trash, it's pretty much Boss Boss Boss Boss. It isn't really something that you take a bunch of time to work through, you kinda just go in and kill shit. It taking the same kind of time to do a gigantic, large raid size zone would make no sense. This thing isn't even Kharazan level, it's pretty much FF14's version of ToC, except only 8 people instead of 10/25.

So yeah, I hope to god that it isn't something that we take 2 months to kill considering the scale/difficulty level.

So Yoshida did an interview when someone asked about PvP and he basically said that there will be different items you equip for PvP only which will solve all these problems we see, like sleep.

First of all, we are going to introduce one part of the PVP we're planning to make, Coliseum. This is going to be 4 vs. 4 or 8 vs. 8. With this next beta phase, 4, we're going to test that out - so you'll be able to find out what happens when different classes or jobs fight against each other within FF14.

This Coliseum will be introduced with patch 2.0, straight away after launch. Six months after launch, we're planning to also introduce another PVP called Frontline. This is more like a RvR - Realm versus Realm. This uses whole zones - it's a large-scale PVP.

Player-on-player battles are in the works, but some modes won't make launch.
With this PVP system, there's going to be different character systems compared to the PVE version. If you win a battle in PVP, you'll earn points, and when you collect these points you can exchange for certain abilities or skills or equipment dedicated to the PVP system. As such, you can level up your character in a sense within the PVP system.

If you want to focus on PVE, that's absolutely fine, but if you do get a chance to try out PVP, please do so - you'll get to think about what kind of skills you want to use, what kind of gear you want to use - make sure you have good enough gear to stand up in PVP.

There's lots of excitement in the PVP - it's not just about hitting each other and things like that. If you haven't done PVP before, just give it a try and I hope you enjoy it. If you don't like the idea of hitting another player, then don't worry - you can concentrate on the PVE and try to become the Warrior of Light.

That being said, if you want to meet me in game, you have to come into the Coliseum or the Frontline - that's where I'll be! [laughs] That's my thing.
So at least it seems like he likes PvP himself, so he should design the shit right, right?

vvv and yeah, Sean, I agree.

Heh, absolutely nothing gameplay-wise can solve the massive problems with Combat Responsiveness and their horrible Netcode. They need to clean up their fucking programming or PVP is going to suck no matter what.

Did Yoshi mention anywhere why the fuck they didnt include right click ignore/blacklist ? The gold seller spam has gotten beyond ridiculous.

This can't be something that takes weeks to code and implement.
