Yeah get a keyboard for chatting, it's a must really. DPS being subpar isn't too much of an issue while leveling, plus once you get used to the buttons positions and how the pad gameplay works, it really flows nicely. The 2.5GCD helps a lot with that, if it was wow's 1.5 it'd be a lot harder for pad users to keep up, but with 2.5 you have enough time to swap bars and what not to hit random shit.

Btw, why is the 58 alchemist quest gated behind a master 3 book? Retarded and its probably not the only one.

Yeah it sucked, I just bought one on the AH since it was cheap. The 60 quest is also a master book recipe though, and an annoying one, so I haven't finished the Alchemy questline. In fact, I haven't done any other crafting quests other than the first step for all these crafting xp manuals. I got all my crafters to 60 today finally, and yeah probably not gonna both with red scrips, the investment cost seems ridiculous, I might make the money back but it sounds like a lot of fucking busywork and the first few weeks the prices will be inconsistent so I might not actually be able to sell the red scrips materials for the price of the gathered shit I buy. I bought a bunch of stuff to do some red scrips for cheap for now before it's obvious that there's some way cheaper items in the rotation, but after that I probably won't bother. I have Grandmaster of the Hand now though, hehe.

And yes they changed every VA due to some licensing shit and unions and whatever the fuck the issue was. I use the japanese VA so I wasn't affected.

Pyros what is your opinion on specializations? I got the culinarian one and frankly am not that impressed.

Also a massive shout out to marron glace, the item responsible for 99.9% of all my blue crafting scrips. Couldn't/wouldn't have done it without you.

I actually haven't picked a single one. I thought I'd keep it for this patch to see what I'd get, I bought some weaver and alchemy delineations cause I had too many blue scrips but didn't spec any. Considering I'm not planning on crafting shit, I probably won't bother using them, the respec is costly as fuck if crafting get unfucked I want to be able to pick whatever.

Atm best way to make money is to just make raiding food/potions and the entry level gathering/crafting shit, as well as leveling gear(lvl 51/53 shit sells especially well, people buy it even though you don't really need it).

Pyros, have you given any thought to melding the Chimerical crafter gear to get min stats for two star then overmeld CP? I don't think you need tier four materia for it either.

It still doesn't change the fact that the high end crafting is fucked. I can see it sort of being feasible if you are in a crafter FC and pool your resources, but even then it is messed up. With current limits you can craft two-three high end items a week using your own red scrips.

Beyond that though, the system is more of a pyramid scheme than ever before that vastly favours crafters that have hundreds of millions of Gil.

Also, specializations are all but useless. Heart of the Crafter can fail completely and doesn't do all that much. Nymea's Wheel restores 30 durability max, letting Whistle While You Work run out only progress a small amount and can even fail. If Heart of the Crafter didn't cost any CP to use then it might be worth it.

Innovative Touch is freaking amazing. Getting a specialization is worth it just for that skill.

The skill is OK. I prefer just using Hasty Touch since I feel that 80% success rate is much better than 70% plus most of the time Byregot's Blessing will get you to 100%, negating the need for Innovative Touch.

I can see a case to be made for SWTOR, but personally I played a Consular at launch and it was just dreadful. Always wanted to try a bounty hunter or Sith though, heard their stories were great. As for rooting against the good guys I feel HW did a good job blurring the lines with characters like Estinien and Iceheart. Pre 3.0 scions though should stay dead.

The two times Minfilia gets kidnapped are SO GOOD because you don't have to fucking report back to her every 5 minutes.

Just unlocked Heavensward today...

At the end of 2.55 it seems like 4 of them do die fiery deaths, however Minfllia is ambiguous (therefore alive) and Alphinaud escapes. I except them all back alive by the end of the expansion

How can someone die of poison in a private audience with a WHITE MAGE by the way? I was shouting ESUNA ESUNA RAISE at the screen. Oh you are not a White Mage? The fucking Gridania faction leader is one, go get her.

Have you tried level 60 1* crafts yet? Innovative Touch can make or break those.

I have, and I still don't like using it and haven't had issues HQing. That is besides the point, even assuming that Innovative Touch is awesome, specialists still don't give an appreciable boost.

I dunno, unless I get lucky with Good/Excellent RNG, I have a hard time HQing something from all NQ mats for 1* recipes. Innovative Touch makes it so much easier.

Perhaps, but the point of specializations is to make it so you don't need to have multiple Disciples of the Hand leveled. It has failed that goal miserably.

So I got patch 1 and 2 done. Just 3 more to go before I unlock the expansion I paid for!!

I might take a break from it and switch to grinding lower level classes.

2.1 had the most content, 2.3/2.4/2.5/2.55 all roll pretty quickly. Though when the game warns you about long cutscenes, it's for-fucking-real man. It's like 45 minutes of cut scenes.

Yeah there are a few things I don't care about in my MMO's:

1.) Audio of any sort
2.) The look of my equipment
3.) Any store or lore

So I can just skip right through them, still time consuming but at least I am not watching them.
