You’re talking about a soul, atma, whatever. I can answer that one very quickly. What was yours doing 2 years before you were born?
If you want to stick with pure organic ask two identical twins what it’s like sharing the same brain. Because there’s your answer. Both are genetically identical but have entirely different experiences. Self. Cloning a personality would be just that. A new person entirely seperated from your experiences from that point forward. Same base memories. Different individual.
Mengala’esque question: If you grew a thousand humans in dark sensory deprivation tanks from single cell to grown adult without any outside input in their lives, what do you think you’d have when you opened the tank at 30 years old? I’m pretty sure you’d have 1000 very similar cases though, and no “atma” to speak of.

Is there a tangible difference if you’re being being tortured and experiencing it?
Edit: I don’t know much about this topic I was just high as a fucking kite last night. I thought that even if there is a chance to be immortal, if there is a none-zero chance to be tortured for eternity it is not at all worth it.

Matrix and/or Inception philosophy aside (e.g. if real is what you can taste touch see, then real is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain), all I know is that my dreams feel real at the time and my subconscious reactions to dream stimuli are exactly as they would be in real life, yet I have never felt physical pain in a dream because there aren't any actual pain receptors being triggered in my body, y'know? Therefore, is pain even possible without a physical body? Is it possible to trigger pain receptors with other means besides it actually happening? Does that make sense? I really don't know jack and shit about the science of the brain or neurology so I'm more eager to know vs. trying to put forth my philosophical opinion.
