I don't see hookers on the tip list ? does that mean that after a good hummer I don't have to throw her an extra LincolnI went to Denmark on a business trip in October and had dinner with some customers. When I tried to leave a tip after the dinner one of the clients I was eating with picked up the money and told me "don't bring your corrupt american customs to our country." He said it with a smile as he handed the money back to me. I had honestly forgotten that tipping was an almost purely american thing and is almost seen as I guess insulting in other countries.
I have no problem with tipping, if that is the way their pay is set up. In places where there isn't tipping that missing 'cost' is built into the price of the goods anyway. Its just an argument that comes down to do you think someone will work better if their commission is somewhat based on performance vs. should it just be treated like any other job where you're at risk of getting fired if you put out a consistently bad effort.

Sithes, you say a shoe salesman gets EARNED COMMISSION for upselling you to three shoes instead of two. Ooh so touchy, and you can't read? Again never did I say waiters don't up sell, nor did I say good waiters didn't earn their tips. I also never said a good salesman upsells you 3 pair of shoes. You've changed my mind though, please tip your waitstaff well, including the shite ones. apparently its an act of charity as their skill-set is quite limited to this vocation.

@Sithes - if all you are essentially saying is, tip good waiters good, and poorly tip or dont tip bad waiters, then bro, just say it. No need to get all TLDR with points that dont even make your point.
I think theres only been a few times where I didnt tip. This being because the waitress (each time a old hag) basically took our orders, brought us drinks then food. And after that they were never to be seen again, usually it took me finding them or when the manager comes around asking everyone how things are I have to tell them our waitress seems to be hiding from us. I dont know if it is because my wife and I are both in our mid-late 20s with a 4yr old and think we have no money? But I make really good money and never have a problem tipping more than usual if the service is good. Anyways, some cool cars.
