yea desirable/prestigious jobs can pay less. see also blizard. disney. I had friends growing up who would go work in disney world for the prestige of working for disney. they got payed laughable peanuts. like mcdonalds wages. and forbidden from doing anything but smiling.

If I could go back in time and kick my own ass - instead of joining the Army, or hell, even after the Army - I should have went down to Key West and signed up to work on one of those tourist boats like Seabago. G/f I had in 2021 wanted us to go out and see the coral (its dead as fuck and ugly. Waste of time.) - But the dudes and chicks that were working on that boat looked like they were living their best life then. Then we saw them, even the 18-19 year olds, at the bar later that night getting shit faced.

Fuck working at a game company, or fag-disney - sign me up to work on the beach, eating good food, drinking what I want, and being around some of the prettiest women Ive ever seen.

Also you may just want to scrap Assassins Creed shadows and do a complete redesign from blue print and up.

As TJT said, they get real jobs. There's a pretty big talent gulf between Average Nerd and the Average Bluehair working at some big game studio. In my experience, Average Nerds can be way above average in terms of depth of talent for various things. Also, Average Nerd tends to read a lot, and reading bolsters creativity. These people go get real jobs, which leaves no one to work at big studios except for pretenders of all types. Modern AAA designers are in love with the myth of themselves without realizing that it is a myth and nothing more.

This explains in large part why movies/games/tv/various forms of entertainment suck now. Average Nerds have retired/moved on, and replacement talent simply doesn't exist except for a very large pool of clueless pretenders.

Look at the difference between John Romero and John Carmack. John Romero is a libtard pronouner who's been stuck at making failed game projects since ID software, living off of his one hit wonder.

John Carmack seems to be more about just coding/work, no apparent wokeisms, hopped off of the games and went on to developing new tech with oculus/AI/Armadillo Aerospace.

Today I work in backend engineering for the healthcare industry. This job pays almost double what the same position would pay at any major game studio. Even less if it was a small game studio in a similar role.

I realized early enough that its all code to me. If I ever wanted to make a game I would just do it from home and make my own thing for the experience of it. Low on my priority list but its really cool to see dudes like the Stardew Valley guy.

I went to a MTG tournament at the local mall sometime around 2005ish and I still remember that god awful stench to this day. It was my first and last. I realized then that "nerd culture" just wasn't for me.

i went to akon like... shit 22 years ago. back in the day you couldn't get a lot of video game/anime related shit any other way. like old robotech toys, or vidya game souindtracks.

anyway they had nerds with those backpack weed killer sprayers full of fabreeze taking it upon themselves to hose down nerds in costumes self basting. it was kind of hilarious. they'd be like "bro. you need a spray" and the guy would hold his arms up and turn in a circle like being deloussed in prison.

its a no duh, they have over 20,000 employees and a game like assassins creed employes 8000+. Its insane. Tencent will buy the big IPs and studios, fire 95% of the employees, move the IPs to chinese studios that are 1/10th the size and 1/50th the cost, and crank out games that look better but have a lot less story.

ubisoft will reform under the guillemot family and just focus on their small games like Beyond Good & Evil, Mario Rabbids, Prince of Persia, etc with a few hundred employees. The family gets paid out, they still make games but not at the insane scale they are trying (and failing miserably) at now.
