My opinion as an asshole:

The trailer is horrible (eg, "4" scientists. ...lulz), remaking GB still is a bad idea, it has nothing to do with the all female cast and it will make money but critics and audience will not like it.

so they blame geek culture and misogyny for their trailer being a piece of shit. thats interesting, maybe they shouldnt shit on the people they want paying to see this shitshow remake? these guys are so smart they never considered that their target audience are such terrible shitlords. its interesting the movie is still being reshooted as of a few days ago.

I like Feigs work but he is pulling the same stupid shit Trank did with Fantastic 4 and insulting the people that care about the source material. Insulting all the nerds or anyone as a director is very stupid

Typical regressive left. I wish him the best, this might turn it around for him and his ilk!

I had been softening on this movie or time and was thinking about checking it out when it released. I think one of the theaters around me runs a special on Thursdays where the first showing of the day is half off or something so now that the weather's nice I was maybe going to give it a go. With an early morning screening I'd probably have the whole theater to myself. It's probably going to suck but it's a franchise I've always liked and maybe it'll be alright. There's worse ways to spend a few hours.

But having the director come out like that and tell everyone they suck takes that idea and flushes it down the toilet. I'm not going to be shamed into seeing your movie and I'm not going to be bullied into silence. It doesn't look very good. The characters and jokes look stock and uninspired. Reboots are generally shitty as a rule and another Ghostbusters has been in development hell so long it's almost impossible for it to be good. I'm sorry if a bunch of spergs wrote you some hatefilled garbage but you aren't selling tickets by shitting on people in response.

Seemingly 80%+ of all new movies and television series involve superheroes now, but yeah Feig, geeks are too hard to please.

This movie could be great but its damn similar to the Fantastic 4 situation. Casting, CGI, Trailer hated, Director insults the fanbase, and Reshoots happen right before release. They are doing reshoots insanely close to a release, filming scenes 2 months before it hits theaters is weird.

Deadpool did reshoots little over 3 months before release and it was an unnecessary really. Reynolds probably gets off being Deadpool and made excuses

wait... they are doing reshoots this week? that seems insane for a movie releasing in 2 months

I wonder what the odds are one of the "asshole nerds" in Hollywood is going to leak a full rip of the movie 2 weeks before release. Then Paul Fag can also blame pirates for his bomb

Every movie does reshoots. They literately work on every film up to the bitter end.

Whenever you see something like that in the media it's just to generate interest.

2 months before it hits theaters?? Or are you saying they are staging reshoots and faking filming to create buzz?

I'm saying movies do post production all the way to the end. That means the night they need to ship off the master to get reproduced.

Editing, Voice replacement, reshoots you name it.

2 months is still a very long time in post production. There is a reason why they do test screenings to focus groups before the film comes out.

reshootings scenes this close to the release date seems weird, editing takes a long time. these guys are gonna be burning the midnight oil to get it done in time. gonna be a rush job.

The new X-men movie is doing reshoots before release. We talk about it in the that thread.

A lot of movies actually do it but it's not even a news story unless they want people to know about it, or the movie has so much controversy that some rag reporter finds about it to sell a story...

You guys act like they are re-shooting the whole movie when it's probly just adding a small scene of dialogue because whatever they have isn't working...

Editing reshoots doesn't take long because they're often done with an existing edit of the full film in mind. The editing process doesn't have to start over from scratch just to accommodate them. And they're so standard now that they are specifically budgeted for and scheduled on the front end of production. Any good director who has a chance to get more footage will generally take advantage of it.

As for the timing of them you have to take into consideration that it's an ensemble cast so they have to find a window where all of the necessary actors are available. As many movies as McCarthy makes that's probably easier said than done.
