The damage is from both godzilla and the other monsters, godzilla isn't particularly trying to destroy human stuff but he isn't going out of his way to avoid it either. He has one goal, destroy all monsters.
Yeah it's my understanding that humans basically used his DNA or some such shit to try and create these monsters (assuming for war purposes). Papa G wakes up, doesn't like it, and fucks shit up.

Same with me. I get the shaky cam hate, but otherwise I thought the movie was awesome and never understood why some people think it was so bad.

The best part of Cloverfield was we saw it at a theater where they told us they'd refund us if we wanted because their AC system broke down. I told them we still wanted to see it and they informed us we had to wait while they cleaned up the vomit. When we went in, There were trash bags over seats and entire rows of seats. Hot as fucking shit. Went to the bathroom and there was puke EVERY-FUCKING-WHERE. It was disgusting. It made the experience awesome. The whole time you're going "MAN I HOPE I DONT THROW UP" and every 5 minutes you'd hear the sound of someone puking several rows ahead or behind you.

OMG, sounds absolutely horrid. The stench must have been insanely awful.

I had never been so fucking pumped to see a movie that I ignored it. Hearing vomit splatter during it was only a mild distraction. It was fucking hot though, that was the bad part.

Yeah a friend of mine was dating a manger (manageress?) at the local cinema, when Cloverfield came out.

There was a story of someone trying to get out who was about to throw up, but was seated in the center of one of those long rows of seats and there was just too many people to get by and threw up in the middle of everyone.

As far as how I fared, I got to admit I made a point of keeping my eyes off the screen during the most frantic bits and relying on just the audio.

WTF Cloverfield actually made people puke? I never saw it.
My friends and I were late to the showing I went to and it was packed so we had to sit in the front row. Shakycam + sitting so close to the screen definitely made a couple of my friends a little ill.

The shaky can in cloverfield was organic to the plot so it made sense. On the other hand it was during a wave of shaky can hate after movies like Bourne where it was just done to hide bad choreography. So cloverfeild got a huge amount of hate because people were just fed up with it.

Oh its gonna suck. Look at these trailers, total garbage incoming. Even those of you who will go see on opening day and come back to defend it here will forget about this crap in a year or less. Typical looking hollywood summer SFX blockbuster. So fucking YAWN!
