everyone thinks the 80s were the best time to be alive. and thats probably true, but there was shit tucked into that apple sauce that people pretended wasnt there. the radio overplayed the shit out of good songs and some songs didnt get played enough. some songs were just horrible from the start.

Good
probably one of my favorite songs of the 80s. the radio overplayed the shit out of it, but i didnt care. Men At: Work Business As Usual was the first album i ever bought with my own money. $6.49 at the local record store.
Bad
this song and video used to scare the fuck out of me. this bitch must have taken all the drugs in the 70s and this was the result.
Ugly
this song was so overplayed, i actually would get ill every time i heard it on the radio. its probably one of the reasons why pop songs went downhill in the mid to late 80s

This is a long list of memories. Too much good honestly. There were some train wrecks but I have obviously wiped them from my mind.

Just to show a range..

There are far, far, far worse songs than Sledgehammer.

i think thats worse, but it didnt make me ill. i just changed the station.

this one i cant be sure if i still love this song or hate it.
its really good,, but it got so bombarded in the 80s and ever since then that if people hate it its understandable.

here is another OMD song. my favorite from them.

Insanity laughs, under pressure we're breaking.
Can't we give ourselves one more chance?
Why can't we give love that one more chance?
Why can't we give love?
'Cause love's such an old-fashioned word,
And love dares you to care for the people on the edge of the night,
And love dares you to change our way of caring about ourselves.
This is our last dance.
This is our last dance.
This is ourselves -- under pressure.

Studio version came out in '78 but IMO most people associate this song with the '80s

Dearly beloved...
Purple Rain may be the greatest movie soundtrack since Saturday Night Fever.

Def Leppard, all good and better.
the radio and MTV tried so hard to kill these songs. maybe they did for "pour some sugar on me" which seemed to be the exotic dancer theme song for the rest of time. but i never got sick of these songs.
