If the 3-eyed raven's magic protected the wall, why did they need a fucking wall in the first place? It could be an arbitrary line in the snow like how the cave was protected prior to Bran's mark. Why build a 700 foot tall goddamn ice monster wall if the magic is really whats preventing the Others from coming?

Also I know you meant the CoF's magic not the 3-eyed raven, Bloodraven is only a couple hundred years old I think. Wall is ~7000 years old or whatever.
Logically we'd assume Bloodraven inherited the job from someone. I don't have an answer for why the wall needs to be holy shitfuck big. Current answer would be giants/wildlings, but back when it was built? Dunno. They wanted a big windbreaker?

It is to keep out grumpkins, snarks and all of the other monsters our wet nurses told us about.

Gotcha. I agree, it'd be out of left field since it's only been shown in one scene that I can recall. The idea that the Three Eyed Raven kept the wall's magic in place is solid but then what was the point of dragging Bran's ass up North to just fuck it all up?
Yeah, you would think that of all people to know how retarded Starks are, it would have been the 3 eyed raven.

Probably hand-waved away with something about how the wall had to come down in order to finally put an end to the whole whitewalker menace once and for all

The characters are acting weird about the Wall. Acting like there isn't a 700 foot 300 mile long Wall there built for the singular and explicit purpose of keeping WW out.

I feel like maybe only the Starks actually make a pilgrimage to go see The Wall.

For anyone to the south it's more like a bit of local history. Like the pyramids. Sure, I've heard of 'em. Yeah, they're there. Yep, they're big. Who the fuck knows why those crazy northern fucks built such a thing ages and ages ago. But it sure is a great place to dump your unwanted bastards.

That's all I got. Because you would think that the physical presence of a giant wall stretching across an entire continent would have even the dumbest of the aristocracy going, "Hmm. That's probably there for a reason."

NK should bust out a 7 string guitar and lay down his amp of winter and bust out some Norwegian black metal with his possy. They fit the bill.
Personally I would prefer if he did a Bill and Ted air guitar solo.

Let's all forget the first mentor she had and the statement he told her to repeat over and over. It's much easier to ignore the fucking obvious that one day she will face the God of Death and say not today.

The biggest hole with it is "Why is Jaquen gonna just let her go?" It's true. He didn't say you have a second chance next time you die. All he said is that there would not be a third.

But... Is he sweet on her? He just KEEPS dying for her. It's kinda nonsensical as a story. He's like her own. personal. Jesus.

They've left him such a blank slate that it's gonna take some good writing to do that ol switcherooni and not have it be severely, story breakingly, cheesy.

Yeah, the Waif failing and having this personal vandetta against Arya is equally as blasphemous to the concept of being "no one" as having favoritism towards Arya is. Despite Arya generally being a shitty Faceless Man candidate in the first place. Why would JH have a soft spot for Arya Stark?

Not going to rule it out but I still think the fake blood thing is more likely. If it is true we can put the shapechanging shit to bed then!

The fake blood takes a huge leap of deductive reasoning on Arya's part

1) Arya assumes the Faceless Men will kill her for failing, because JH pretty much laid that out
2) Arya would probably assume the Waif would do it. The Waif isn't exactly subtle about her hate
3) Arya knows the Waif hates her, so she will choose a more personal method of assassination vs. a less personal one (ie, poison or long ranged)
4) If the Waif will choose a personal method of assassination, it will be close quarters and let Arya know who killed her
5) It would probably be a "slow" death, so she would first aim to incapacitate Arya/inflict a mortal wound that isn't immediate. Given Arya's experience, a stomach wound (the dying farmer when she was with the Hound)
6) Arya deducts this will be a stomach stab, so she rigs some complex system that will bleed on puncture and feel like flesh so that the Waif thinks she really stabbed Arya
7 ???
8) Profit

I can buy the first few leaps of logic, but then you start to get into Sherlock Holmes/PreCog level of prediction.

Of course the wall is coming down... What else would you need an Army of Unsullied, every Dothraki, A mercenary Army, All the Wildlings, and the entire Lannister Army for?

BTW.. Stabbed Arya = Jaquen

Perhaps the Waif has something against Arya, because she is someone, and she actually shares a connection to the Starks even?

What was the story she told Arya about her past again?

she was the daughter of a widowed lord from Westeros
who remarried another woman and produced a second daughter.
Her jealous stepmother then tried to poison her.
The woman who became the Waif discovered this plot and sought the help of the Faceless Men.

Thank you for rehashing every reason that has already been brought up for why the fake blood thing would be retarded. Nobody is saying it would be good writing, we're saying we think that's the most likely direction the writers are going.
