That said, seems like everyone knows that Dany is going to fuck Astapor up with her slave army as soon as they are in her control... That completely took me by surprise when I was reading the book.
Yeah I knew something was going to happen but I was only 90% sure she wasn't going to lose one of her dragons (And 100% sure she wasn't going to lose the only one the books paid attention to). But I didn't expect her to just say 'ok unsullied, we have the city lol' like people in the thread are.

My wife read the spoilers at the back of each book, like the family trees and shit, and the hand thing took her by surprise, she had no idea. That was pretty awesome.

After Dany whining for 4 episodes "Where's my draaaaaaaaaaaaaaagons?!" I think anyone watching the show knows that she ain't about to just trade one away. It's definitely less subtle than the book.

The same Robb that's been rambling around the countryside for a series and half, has he even drawn his sword?.. Tywin doesn't seem worried about Robb at all, and no wonder. While he's sitting pretty in Kings-landing Robb's off turning up late to everything.

And have they skipped yet another battle with the others? Isn't everyone getting a bit fed up of characters turning up to find the aftermath of battles. There's just to many characters wandering around doing very little while the rest are sitting around doing very little..

Have you even been paying attention? In season 2 Tywin RAGES how Robb has won every battle hes fought. I mean, in one of the season openers Robbs wolf takes out 2 dudes at a Lannister camp. Do you presume he just sits in the back on his horse and clicks /pet attack and lol's as his wolf fucks shit up? How much more heavy handed do things need to be for you? It is made clear, throughout the episodes, that Robb fights right alongside his men. Go rewatch the entire series.

About the others...I dont even....

In the show I think they highlight it more how the unsullied will literally ONLY obey the person who owns them, and obeys them implicitly. In the book I think it was said by the trader who was trying to sell them and then communicated through the girl, but in the show she asks again if the unsullied only obey the person who paid for them. In the book I think it was more of a "So I could command them to kill themselves?" And the girl says yes but don't do that and then talks about how two of her brothers are part of the army.

So I think that question stated so point blank is probably what did it. In the book I was surprised by how she did it, and even more surprised by how she turn Drogo around on them (although I was fairly certain she was keeping the dragon somehow.) Much more subtlety in the books.

Also, ditto Lemmiwinks.

I also think that, to an extent, watching the tv show every week gives someone an opportunity to guess and surmise about the show's direction.

It'd be interesting if GRRM adopted the manga style delivery system of say, giving one perspective/chapter per week or two.

True Blood is the only show that meets his high standards. Game of Thrones doesn't stand a chance

Yeah I read the first book after watching the show, it was good to get some background but I didn't really enjoy it since I already knew everything that was going to happen. Even most of the dialog seems to have gone from the book to screenplay unchanged.

I hope the guy playing Pod "accidentally" looked in to the camera a few times, I knew I would have

While it would be interesting I think the timelines would be hard to keep straight for non-readers. I think I'd prefer it that way, but yeah.

The best solution would be to have 10 90 - 120min eps. Obviously this isn't going to happen, but I think this would be the best way for them to pull off the enormous scope.

Aye guvnah.

But why not go full jimmy and either release the episodes vis a vis the pov chapters and do a 25 ep season OR create 145m epic movies, 3-5 per season?

I whole heartily agree with longer eps tho. Fo sho.

Why don't they just project the show on the moon for 14 hours a night while a million Victoria's Secret models roam the countryside doling out blowjobs and Hot Pockets?
