Tonight's episode highlights the reason why if you have not yet read the books, you should not read
this is true insofar as reading the book ruins the show, but watching the show also ruins the books.

you've got a point in a way, cos book readers tend to be disappointed, as usual w/ any film based on whatever. but if you dig the story i don't see why you shouldn't want to know more about it, unless you like tv but not books. which is fine if that's the way you kick it

I think it's going to end up like Peter Griffin's version of Anna and the King, with a Cyborg taking control of everything
and amish ninjas breakdancing to a phat beat

Edmure was Brutus on Rome. Good actor, but he looks like he's eating lemon or piece of shit at all times.

Whoever said about Jamie not getting his hand chopped off, they *had* to have it legitimately happen; that's the entire reason, or at least a large part, that Jamie rethinks who he is. Brienne and her whole quest for justice and crap is part of it, but Jamie's sword hand has always been who he is. Without it, he is nothing but a kingslayer, and right around then is when he seriously starts to think about who he is or who he wants to be.

Haha wow, I didn't think Astro had the balls. What did Sean and Moderator Wingman do to rustle his jimmies so thoroughly?

Astro's private message was to some random person who negged him. That person then reported the private message which gets sent to all mods/admins. So Astro didn't really have balls. He just didn't think his plan through very well. The intent wasn't to ruin it for people who can rename him Astr0.

I clearly didn't read Tuco's post very well. Far less impressive. Poor Astro can't even be an asshole correctly.

I'm sure he sent this to several people, but here's his response:

i did not spoil anything to anyone that posts here. sorry mods got forwarded spoiler spam, was not my intention. was a stupidass attempt to iceburn some dipshit who made a fake account with 0 posts to mess with other posters(including me). and as a result (because im an idiot who didnt think this toolbag would forward the message) tarrant and sean were fucked with. very sorry that has happened. i would never intentionally spoil the books to anyone that actually posts here.
ill take my lumps, and hopefully y'all can forgive me when i come back .

I'd expect the guy would probably not be that gullible to sell his entire fleet normally. The thing is as soon as he heard the offer of a dragon he seemed to throw all caution to the wind.

Someone mentioned earlier about avoiding spoilers online being difficult... About 6 months ago I joined a DotA game and one of the guy's username was soandsodiesseason#. Shit's fucked up man.

Well keep in mind that dragons are Westeros' version of nuclear weapons. Of course the dude would get excited, especially considering there are only 3 in the entire world as far as we know.

I thought they were gonna rape Jamie - partly because of the discussion he had previously about resisting, and partly because of the bare-bottom scene we had just had. I was NOT expecting his fucking hand to get cut off! Awesome. I can't remember the last time I was watching a show that actually made me say "HOLY SHIT!" out loud.

I thought it was pretty obvious that D is going to burn that fucking slave city down. Its why she wanted all of the slaves and gave up a dragon so easily. A little predictable, so I'm expecting something a bit more involved to happen. I also keep expecting her to reply at some point in the islander's native tongue. Character-wise, we know she learns langauges quickly. It also just *seems* from her facial expressions that she is doing the whole "acting so I look like I'm holding my tongue and not just acting like I don't understand" thing. In any case, loving it so far.

I can understand some people not reading the books in order to enjoy the shows. However, at this point any mod who hasn't read the books is just fucking retarded or doesn't care if he gets a spoiler. It's unavoidable (as I posted in that retarded spin-off thread). So I really can't feel sorry for either of them.

P.S. Episode was good. I'm liking the more decisive Dany, and the ending with Jaimie was great. I actually half expected them to end without taking his hand off, and then right at the last second, SLICE! The only bad part was it wasn't a fat Dothraki doing the cutting.

When she approached the slave on that walkway, he murmured something to her. It was hard to hear, but it didn't seem like it was in english. I figured that was a way of realizing she understands the language. She told the translator what the slave had said to her. I might be looking into it a bit much, but that seemed like an indicator for me.

Also: the whole hand thing... My girlfriend and I sat there with our jaws dropped during the whole end credits after that scene. Just so badass to end it like that and then that song. The guys who run the show have a lot on their plate trying to tell all these stories at once, but damn do they know how to end on some great notes.

That's one of the big reasons why I read the books, because I knew I couldn't do my job as a moderator without having read them or getting spoiled.

I thought the point Roose Bolton's man made about Jaime being nothing without his father then chopping off his hand communicated more pathos and set up his transformation much better then having Vargo Hoat do it.

Also fuck Astr0 that guy gets a huge fucking leesh with his asshatery.

Yeah but doesn't all that stuff that happened tonight (regarding Theon) happen completely differently in the book?

Might be I'm only halfway through ADWD so it happens after the point I'm at, but I feel pretty well into Theon's storyline, and don't think this could be a flashback scene from late in the book, maybe I"m wrong on that.
The same Robb that's been rambling around the countryside for a series and half, has he even drawn his sword?.. Tywin doesn't seem worried about Robb at all, and no wonder. While he's sitting pretty in Kings-landing Robb's off turning up late to everything.

And have they skipped yet another battle with the others? Isn't everyone getting a bit fed up of characters turning up to find the aftermath of battles. There's just to many characters wandering around doing very little while the rest are sitting around doing very little..

Pretty cool reading the no spoiler thread. The hand thing seemed to surprise everyone (seems like most snape kills dumbledore type people have been soilering the red wedding and skipped over that). Even though him losing his hand is the whole reason he turns from a douchebag into a "favorite" character for many people.

That said, seems like everyone knows that Dany is going to fuck Astapor up with her slave army as soon as they are in her control... That completely took me by surprise when I was reading the book.
