Almost a week later, and I'm still pissed off as hell. This entire season (and pretty much all of last season) sucked ass. So many plot holes, so much important shit left unanswered. When Bran returned to Winterfell last season, Sansa told him "you're the Lord of Winterfell." and he flat out said, "I can't be the lord of Winterfell. I can't be the lord of anything. I'm the Three Eyed Raven." Then a season later, when they make him the king, he says "why do you think I'm here?" What the fuck?

Jon Snow being a Targaryen, THE MOST IMPORTANT REVEAL IN THE ENTIRE SERIES, meant nothing to the plot.

Bran being the Three Eyed Raven meant nothing.

Melisandre returns, lights some swords on fire, and a moat, which does NOTHING to change the outcome of the battle, only delays them for about 5 minutes, then walks out and dies, like she did something epic.

Cersei, the most diabolical and cunning person in the show, just stands there from her tower and watches as her army and city are destroyed. No plan b, no surprise attack, nothing.

Varys going on and on and on about how Jon Snow needed to be the king meant nothing. The note they made such a big deal about him writing, meant nothing.

Arya being a faceless assassin meant nothing.

We finally get the fight between the Hound and the Mountain, and it meant nothing, because they were both seconds away from dying anyway. Even the battle with the Night King felt rushed and anticlimactic. Anyone who says this ending was even okay is a fucking retard.

You nailed it.. there was so much build up and drama on screen that meant nothing.

The 6 Kingdoms should be pissed.

"A Lannister always pays his debts"

However, Tyrion didn't use Lannister money, he has access to none, Casterly Rock is sacked and empty, so in the end he used his new position as hand of the king to gift the most fertile land to Bron.

Yes, and imagine that the reason that Jon does manage to kill the NK involves the very resurrection that brought him back to life. The energy/Fire that resides within Jon is the only way that the Night King can die. The power of a god is what it takes to melt the Night King and end winter. You could have choreographed a great fight scene where the Night King eventually takes a hit. Everyone thinks that Vaylrian steel will kill the Night King but this is not the case. The Night King is immune to all things except the Fire from the Lord of Light which was instilled into Jon with his resurrection. That scene would have made for some nifty special effects that would have been much better than a simple ice sculptor collapsing. As a side note, it is also why Jon did not freeze to death north of the wall in season 7.

Jon could have done what Harry Potter did to Voldemort in the first movie, just touching him causes him to melt. Why? Blood of the Dragon or Lord of Light, maybe both.

Actually I think that having the Red Witch appear and provide an assist would have completed that part of the journey for both of them. The touch would not have come from Jon but rather the Witch would have touched Jon at the right moment which then would have dissipated the energy from within Jon. That would have given higher purpose for the Red Witch and have completed her arc. Writing how Jon lives afterwards while no longer carrying the fire inside him might have taken some doing, but involving a dragon might have worked.

Yeah make Jon be a shadow of himself after, like the life is leaving him and he doesn't really care about anything anymore. Pays off his ressurection by giving it a cost and plays into Dany feeling alone with her lover fading away. Gives Sansa a reason to step up and lead The North. His last act is to cover for Arya after she assassinates Dany, have Grey Worm just fucking kill him.

It's SO EASY to think up better scenarios.

the only thing more annoying than the end of season 8 is now all the goddamn annoying retards posting their OWN extremely lengthy and long fanfics on how the show should have ended and thinking anyone else GIVES A SINGLE FUCK

on the other hand brienne of tarth and jaime doing interviews together is so goddamn cute

I've been rewatching the show from the start again, and it helps. This used to be a really fucking good show. Just watched the one where Mel gives birth to the shadow demon stanis thing, that shit was intense vs anything else on TV, or movies. I think I literally had an argument over that scene years ago cause my wife thought I was watching fucked up porn, and didn't know what GoT was. (I could have been watching fucked up porn, not sure)

lol you can literally see the actor behind Varys give up on the show during this table read of season 8 and Brienne holds his hand like "i know... i know... its all shit..."

Also its hilarious that Lena Headey got paid like $5m this season and has maybe... 10 lines?

lol I know what the fuck is going on here. I guess you really need to be hydrated in order to maintain such a terrible writing streak.

I feel there is something very specific about the experience of being an actor in a long running TV show or in movies that have a number of sequels. The cast here spent the better part of a decade playing these characters, so leaving them behind (no matter what the circumstances and how happy they are with the writing of the show in general and of their character in particular), must be gut wrenching. Shooting a final season (when you know it's the final season), must also feel like a long burial. The last few days of shooting on a movie set after several weeks of work together always has a special vibe to it. Turn several weeks into a decade and the last few days into months and you get something that must be very peculiar...
