which characters death would most infuriate you right now?

not including Dany, since she's the story's laison to the entire eastern continent i'd have to say:

#1 Tyrion
#1a Arya
Probably Tywin or Tyrion. They're great characters to watch. Littlefinger and Varys are great too but they had so little screentime this season I'm not as invested.

Not feeling too good about some of their chances though. Not sure how Brienne will take it when she hears Catelyn is dead, an ambitious man (or woman) could direct her rage against the Lannisters.

I don't really mind Dany's story but after three seasons of buildup I'm about ready to see her sail across the sea and fuck some shit up. Yara had like 5 minutes of screentime total and she's already on a boat and getting ready to kick butt.

I kind of feel like he's the type of author that sees all the theories and will completely change his direction just so that none of the theories end up right. So while he may have originally intended Jon to be super awesome, now he'll probably just keep him dead as a fuck you to everyone.
there's no way he'd do that to the good readers of the books......

(meanwhile in the non spoiler thread)
(Whose death would infuriate you the most?)Probably Tywin

It would be an incredible feat if he had a basement with all the fan theories mapped out on the walls and he was constantly revisionng every book to make the maximum number of predictions fail. This would also explain the glacial pace of releases.

To be fair, getting on a skiff to jump a channel with 50 dudes is a wee bit different than sticking 8k + soldiers on boats and traveling the "narrow" sea with proper supplies etc to get you into and established on the mainland then your war effort.

I thought he went on record about using AWOIAF to verify some of the character relations...

I would too. You have to keep in mind the number of changes that happen to a story before it's published. Keeping it all straight in your head when you made each change would be mind bottling.

GRRM says he likes to poop on tropes, so honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Dany eventually dies. Bonus points if Arya does it.

Bran's ultimate role will be securing the dragons after their mother dies. Aegon is bullshit but gets the throne anyways "for the good of the realm". Jon ignores the throne because there must always be a Stark in Winterfell.

That actually puts a thought into my head. IIRC the main reason Jon turned down Stannis' offer to seat him in Winterfell was because he wouldn't break his oath to the watch. Those oaths are for life. I had always assumed that Jon would survive the stabbing, but assuming he does die and Melisandre brings him back, well, he's not an oath-breaker if he leaves the watch then. He was loyal right until he died.

Hear my words and bear witness to my vow. Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children. I shall wear no crowns and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher on the walls. I am the shield that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the Night's Watch, for this night and all the nights to come.

Interesting. He done loop-holed his oath maybe!

She has to sail around the entire southern half of the continent, not just from the Iron Islands to the coast. It's probably a similar distance from King's Landing to Yunkai.

I've yet to complete even the first book but my grand theory on how everything wraps up is simple:

The series is titled "A Song of Ice and Fire", that said:

The obvious:
A massive battle will occur between White Walkers (ice) and Dragons (fire).

The surprise:
We will discover Jon Snow as rightful heir to the throne, being the son of Rhaegar (fire) and Lyanna (ice).

Aegon still has the better claim given that he would have been born earlier and is not a bastard. The only person that can vouch for Jon's birthright is some hick out in the swamps, meanwhile a former hand of the king and master of whisperers will vouch for Aegon's pedigree.

I just assumed the dreadfort or whatever was in or around the winterfell area... I'll look at a map.
I'm pretty sure she mentioned sailing up the Narrow Sea and then the small river that goes by the Dreadfort which would require her to be on the other side of Westeros.

So what you're saying is fake Aegon is gonna die
