Right, that's what he has been implying the whole series, yet when the viper asked him what his desire was he looked at the throne.

He might have been looking at the throne, but what I saw was just Varys disdainfully walking away from the Viper asking impertinent, unsubtle questions.

I think Varys wants hismanon the throne, not hisasson the throne.

The Viper was asking who his man is.

Lord Varys the Spider was actually nodding to it because he has a fantasy of sitting on top of Oberyn's cock and riding him reverse cowgirl on the Iron Throne. This is all subtle foreplay.

Great episode (the dreadfort scene was horrible though). One question I have (which may have been answered) is how did Pycelle get the necklace off of Dontos if Littlefinger had it on the ship and showed it to Sansa?

ETA: Now that I remember, he threw it back overboard after he broke the stone, didn't he?

Next episode is titled "Mockingbird" and that alone pisses me off. I fully well understand the rather dramatic event that will take place in this arc, but goddamned if I don't want half an episode to be devoted to it. I truly despise Sansa's character and Littlefinger bores me simply because of his relation to her and how much of his character's real estate is taken up by Sansa. 35 minutes of Sansa whining with a bit of insanity thrown in just isn't worth it, but I understand they have to stretch for the climax to come. Worse yet, we don't get to see the goddamned trial by combat this episode because they delay it with this.

Only thing I'm really looking forward to in this one is the bit about Daario/Dany and Jon's dealings at the wall. Tyrion gets his champion, as does Cersei, but all of that is going to be difficult the chore it is to watch anything involving Sansa at all.

Maybe it's just me, but in both the books and the show I feel the overwhelming urge to just fast forward and read chapter summaries from the ASOIAF wiki when she's a POV character. I don't through the first read and view, but I damn sure do the second time around. Awful.

Just because you don't like the character doesn't mean that what's happening around her isn't important or doesn't have far-reaching implications. I for one am glad that Oberyn will live for another episode.

Who says half the episode will be devoted to Petyr throwing Lysa out the window? But yeah, Sansa is pretty insufferable. She'd be better if she was showing any semblance of control or interest. Instead she's just a dove being shoved around by the forces around her.

Even if half of the episode is in the Eyrie I wouldn't mind... I've been looking forward to that scene for a long time. Sansa is just as insipid as she was in the books but I still enjoy the hell out of Littlefinger.

Unrelated, but this made me laugh:

I don't know about that. Being that he's the one that worked with the merchant to try and kill Dany with the poison wine in the 1st season. He works more for the kingdom as a whole. He wants to prevent wars so that the people in Westeros remain (relatively) happy.

Doesn't it show Varys talking with Iryllio in the first episode before it shows him handing off Dany to Khal Drogo? Talking about how the wolf and lion will soon be at each others throats or something. I don't remember ever blatantly stating that he's a Targ supporter, though.

It's titled Mockingbird, Littlefinger's sigil. But I wasn't referring specifically to the bitch getting tossed (the one payoff), but rather the 30 goddamned minutes of awful Sansa dialogue we'll have to sit through to get to that point. And I love Littlefinger too, it's the only thing redeeming the damn thing, other than Lysa is a horrible bitch.
