This season has a budget of about $6 mill per episode as per aproducer interview. That's averaged tho so shit like the passage through Old Valyria and the Dragons eating some dude prolly got more than others.

The walk of shame scene cost $200k by itself. It isn't much, but almost all of that was to secure the location and get the permits for a fully nude scene in front of a cathedral. Basically the producers put 200 grand up to secure their artistic integrity by having people throw shit at a naked Lena Headey for an afternoon.

Whoa is Arya dressed like Mercy in that article? The casting speculation seemed like she won't be working as the Mercy persona till next season. But she looks like a member of a gypsy mummer's troupe.

I do like that the show producers put their foot down with respect to adding yet more characters when they had existing characters and actors who could be repurposed. One might think that Martin's background as a script editor for a series would have led him to the same thing.

That having been said Im not quite following their rationale for all the Dorne stuff, especially as they have changed so much of the overarching plot down there.

One of his motivations for making the huge sprawling book story was literally because he was tired of having his TV ideas shot down for being too big and unrealistic. ASOIAF was never supposed to be a TV series, he didn't think it was possible when he started and conceived of it.

The casting call makes me think it's either a flash back to the tourny at Harrenhall where Rhaegar crowned Lyanna the queen of love and beauty or Brandon kicking the shit out of LF with Ned watching. Either way Ned would be young at either event.

Someone linked a good fan theory video a couple of pages back. I went and watched all the GoT videos that guy has and some of them are fucking insane. Howland Reed and Daario ones were things I never would have ever considered.

The show is drawing millions in local subsidies from the local. provincial, national governments where it is shot. That could well be the difference between the 80 million total budget per season and the 6 million per episode numbers given. Total season budget includes the subsides and the per episode costs doesn't.

this relies on the jon snow/meera reed are twins theory.

Snow dies, wargs into ghost right, standard fan theory. However when he is res'd by Mel he doesn't re-inhabit his own body, cus it's far too damaged. he wakes up in Meera Reed's body instead. And he feels right at home. like this is who he's always been, on the inside, he just couldn't express it in words. His admiration for Robb was always more complex than just sibling rivalry/respect. This is why Mel can only see snow in the flames and why she can't tell if bran's group is friend or foe, since it seems they are serving the "enemy" but she doesn't interpret the children as minions of the great other, only the 3 eyed raven is.

grrm is both an epic troll and sjw. The whole battle against the great other and thewhitewalkers is a trans-hero-savior analog against the oppression of the patriarchy.

The "Take the overall budget foudn in some marketing material, divide it by the number of seasons and assume they pay X dollars to make each episode" is an oversimplification.

It'd be interesting to see a budget breakdown to see how much they pay for sets, costumes, special effects, extras, actors, sound, stunts etc. vs marketing, licensing, travel, grease, royalties, embezzlement etc costs.

I don't know why the walk of shame would be such an extravagant thing though. It just seems like a bunch of extras piled in and one very naked Lena Headley.

she died in episode 9 of last season. her body was burned in episode 10.

bran is the cripple. Rickon is the even younger brother, maybe 6 years old? last seen in season 3 with Osha the wildling girl.

they were nice.

Too bad if it's true. But also not too surprising. She's got quite a few tattoos on her that would have to be covered convincingly. Doubt Cersei would be the type of woman with tats.

I only come back here every now and again but must say I am enjoying this season so far, I have always found GoT to be better when watched in a block rather than waiting 7 days for your next fix, but there is enough going to keep me entertained.

What I found odd is before the season started they had a whole load of build up with events going on here in London and all the actors in the show said that the Arya storyline this season would be the best, but to me so far her storyline has been pretty boring, they all said that Episode 10 is by far the most WTF moment in GoT history so looking forward to that.

Also not sure it has been mentioned but with the John Snow story I just have a feeling the little boy he has as his Ward or whatever they call him is going to kill him, the way they keep cutting to him after John Snow does anything of importance just seems to much to be a coincidence
