Also, Tywin told Cercei that the mines had run dry.

And yes, they would have wanted Jamie, Jeoffrey, or Tommon (can't spell those names). I think someone said it earlier, that they are more about their own religion / justice (life for death balance sheet) than money.

Is there one cited instance of the faceless men killing for coin?

Yes, the Waif's rich father had to give the Faceless Men ALL OF HIS ASSETS AND HIS DAUGHTER AS A WARD so that they would give The Gift to his bitch of a second wife. As she was trying to poison the Waif so her children would inherit everything and not his. This has been mentioned multiple times now.

They always charge something that is within your ability to pay, but it is exorbitant (relative to you) and not necessarily coin.

So, to kill a King or something they might charge Tywin Casterly Rock itself or some shit.

Or they'd make him do something really fucked up, like let Tyrion marry his whore, NOT fuck her in the ass on the honeymoon, and legitimize the issue as rightful heir.

Because death is nothing if not full of strange humor.

You know Tywin woulda been all like, "Nah. Fuck that. I'll just raise an army."

I suppose he could just tell them off after they killed a King for him. Come at me and take Casterly Rock you Faceless Bastards!

But then again most people would probably realize that renegging a deal to a guild of assassins who have the ability to be anyone is probably the last bad idea you will ever have.

Seems like they don't accept post-payment.

Greyscale is just an analogue for leprosy, which also isn't highly contagious. its spread through direct contact with infected sites, potentially infected clothing or water, etc. but we're talking medieval-esque times. Shit is all old wives tales and superstition.
Thanks for the explanation George!

So I just caught up. Overall, wasn't as pleased with episodes 8-10 this season. It feels like a lot more than usual is left hanging.

1. Is the reason that people deserted Stannis because they were disgusted with him burning his daughter or was there more that I am I missing?

2. Why did Melisandra up and leave and go to Black Watch? Feels like she also betrayed Stannis without as much as saying bye.

3. I am happy Jon died, fucking hate that entire storyline and hope we get little more from it. That red bitch better not rez him. But what's the end game for the guys that killed him? Banish the wildlings back across the wall? I don't get it or is it just dumb villagers being dumb.

4. Arya is now blind? GG?

5. I'm not convinced they can pin down the poisoning of the Mario princess to the actual killer with total certainty. The paraplegic Dorne guy is super stupid though. Jamie just comes unannounced and uninvited hoping to steal his family away and you just let it happen and give away your son. Fucking idiot, hope you die next.

I think that's false. Welcome to the internet.
I think itwas cofnirmed false, but I want to belieeeeve.

I'm also guessing they didn't have Shireen screaming as they were filming Stannis in that shot. It would've been brutal if they did, then superimposed a blurred out Shireen dying as they focus on Stannis looking stoic.

1) I think the implication is that they left because he burned his daughter, yes

2) From the total look of shock on her face, I think that Melisandre realized she misinterpreted her vision(s) and Stannis is not the chosen one.

5) Jaime will correctly assume it was Ellaria when he remembers that awkward kiss that Ellaria gave Myrcella in front of everyone. Doran wasn't being stupid. Until Myrcella died, his son was only Tommen's death away from the throne of Westeros. And he wasn't just handing him over as a hostage like Myrcella was, he was getting him Oberyn's seat on the small council.

Maybe it was a combination of that and the fact that they had been sitting in a snow drift with nothing to eat. Mercenaries tend to jump ship when they think the guy paying them is going to lose.

2. Why did Melisandra up and leave and go to Black Watch? Feels like she also betrayed Stannis without as much as saying bye.
I think she lied to Stannis about the vision and she really saw them getting pwned by the Boltons and got her ass off of the sinking ship.

Melissandra seemed pretty shook up when she got to the wall. I think she ran off because her entire belief system just shit on her. Cant be an easy thing. Also plz bring on Zombie Jon.

No it was pretty cleared she believed the visions that she relayed to Stannis. You could see her dismay when news of the deserters came to Stannis. I think what happened is she realized she had grossly misinterpreted something.

Why'd she offer her body to Jon then?
