I was trying to avoid people who still think of fish as non-meat. I did actually think of that while I was typing it out. "Someone's going to mention tofu..."

I need slow cooker buying advice. Looking on the smaller size since I am only cooking for two. Are there any brands to look out for or avoid? Should I spend the cash for a programmable one?

I don't know enough about slow cookers to give you advice on a particular brand, to be honest, but the one thing I can say for certain is find one with the lid that latches down. They are spill proof, so taking your crockpot of food to your friends party in the car is no longer hard. No spills when going around the corner. I have this one:

Amazon.com: Hamilton Beach 33262 Stay or Go 6-Quart Slow Cooker: Kitchen Dining

It's a cheapie, but it is pretty consistent with heat. And as far as spending for the programmable ones - get one like this, use a plug in timer like you'd use on a lamp. Saved money, and I think you'll find you don't use that feature all that often.

Yeah, I have the same exact one, only mine is programmable and doesn't have the knob. I really with I had the knob and could put it on a plug-in timer. I have no complaints about the heat or leaking or cleanup or anything else.

My aunt does that. It is good but it's not cornbread. Cornbread is supposed to be dry, that's why you put butter and honey on it. It's like how everybody just makes little cakes in muffin tins now and calls them muffins. That shit is cake.
Uh cornbread is cake.

I've got one like that, but it actually came with a complete cover so it stays warm if you have to travel with it. It's fucking sweet.

Next month, I'm going to my first Crawfish Boil & BBQ. Friend here at work flies in I assume overnight live crawfish, tons of them, and throws this big BBQ.

I've never had crawfish, and I have no idea what to expect. I'm kind of excited!

Don't suck the head. It's fucking disgusting. All for the tiniest damn little piece of meat. Honestly, crawfish aren't really worth it. It's like the asspain of cracking open a lobster but for 1/100th of the reward.

I'll admit that I'm a lazy bastard, I don't like dealing with shellfish. I don't want to have to work that hard for a tiny piece of meat and then have to do it a few dozen times more. I love the stuff, but I'll almost always order a dish that has lobster, crab, shrimp, or crawfish in the dish, so it's already de-shelled. Lobster isn't so bad because most restaurants have the tail opened up and ready to go already, but crab legs, crawfish, and shrimp are too much work.

I agree with crab. I will deshell some king crab but regular little crabs are more trouble than they're worth. Shrimp has a pretty good meat to shell ratio though, I don't mind peeling those things. Never really had many crawfish but it seems like a pain in the ass for something that can't really be that great.

Crawfish is REALLY good, flavor-wise. It's a richer meat, closer to lobster than crab or shrimp. But yeah, it's a shitload of work and its a huge mess as well.

Delicious water bugs. Nothing better than super fresh shellfish.
