Anyone got a got a "goto" dip they make, wife and i are snacking on veggies, salsa and hummus (store bought) getting tiring. (looking for healthy-ish) I don't really make dips.

My go-to, somewhat healthy dips are either hummus or tzatziki. Pretty much every other decent dip on Earth relies on cheese of some sort.

Tzatziki is super easy to make, but if you're unfathomably lazy(like me), Costco also sells an awesome pre-made tzatziki

I also like to mix sriracha into my hummus to spice it up

Anybody dip anything other than chips in salsa? I love salsa and want to get more of it into my life plus it's totally healthy but the only satisfying way to eat it is on greasy ass corn chips. Not that I don't like chips, I just wish there was a more healthy way to eat salsa. I have tried things like celery and toast points but they are unsatisfying. I suppose I could just eat it with a spoon.

I make things I call Cowboy Hats - It consists of bacon and scrambled eggs and cheese cooked and stuffed inbetween two wonton wrappers then crimped on the edges made to look like a Cowboy hat sort of.

Fry those in a bit of oil to get the bottom and top crisp like a potsticker and then salt it up pretty good like a tortilla chip would be. Then use it to scoop up some salsa like a chip and enjoy!

The GF requests these every week pretty much.

Haha. "Anyone know any healthy alternatives to tortilla chips?"

"Fried bacon and cheese wontons"

In all seriousness though I don't think anything will replace a chip for dipping. Any kind of cracker isn't really any better and they are terrible with salsa.

I would just say make some mexican style salads if you want to eat salsa in a healthy way. They are satisfying and an awesome way to get a lot of salsa.

I'm pretty sure I've posted a recipe for a chicken salad that uses salsa as both the marinade and the dressing for the salad.

Fry up some chicken breast with salsa or fry up some chicken breast and dip it in the salsa. Can do the same thing with beef which you probably have plenty of because you're a rancher.

I'm curious, what do other people do with their meat before cooking it in regards to fat and connective tissue? I'll fully admit I'm a bit neurotic about it, probably over trimming my meat, but I hate serving something that contains inedible bits. Bone-in steaks is understandable and easy to cut around, but bits of fat and gristle almost ruin it for me, especially since they kinda blend in with the meat after cooking.

In beef, especially steaks, the fat stays. In pork roast the fat stays, but chops get trimmed. That's like my opinion or something.

It doesn't bother me - if I can't eat it I can just cut it off and put it to the side. Plus I always thought that it all added to the flavor, but who knows (in before someone breaks out a lengthy explanation)

Fat on steaks is almost always pretty damn tasty. Let's not put fat and gristle in the same category. Fatty steaks are way more flavorful than lean ones like filet mignon. I used to be skeeved out by it when I was younger, but I don't mind it on beef now.

Taste, sure. But unrendered fat has a pretty nasty texture.

Popcorn,

I have an air popper, i get jiffytime kernals, orville redenbacher sucks, that popcorn tastes weird.

going "healthy" so usually it's a drizzle of olive/seseme oil so salt/seasoning can stick to the popcorn, mixed with 2 tsp of butter.

any recommendations to up my popcorn experience?

gonna be making that tzatzki recipe later this week, yeah more celery!
