Raw it is! It's always better raw.Only pickling that I've done is giardiniera (Giardiniera - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) and I use raw veggies.
Always raw and add veg oil to the mix.I'm gonna do some quick pickled cauliflower and brussels sprouts with my vacuum sealer today. Vinegar, peppercorns a little mustard seed and fresh dill. Question for those of you who have done it. Do you typically blanch the veggies first, cook them all the way through but not until they're mush, or just do it raw?
Interesting. None of the quick pickle recipes I've seen add oil to the mix. What does the oil do?Always raw and add veg oil to the mix.
I just made a pork tenderloin in it last night. Starts frozen the night before, water or other stuff, let it slow cook for "a long time" add in some gravy and it's great.Ahh...
Raw meat directly into crockpot sounds ... gross.
Boiled meat
Yep.reads too much like Giardia
The oil basically absorbs all the flavors you are putting into it and creats a fucking fantastic sub dressing.Interesting. None of the quick pickle recipes I've seen add oil to the mix. What does the oil do?
I do indeed. I put some red pepper flakes in it.If I remeber correctly, you love you some tasty defense mechanisms. Throw some Jalepenos in that mixture.
Just do what the rest of us do. Watch the Sopranos or Scarface and you become and honorary one. If you ever heard people rave over potbellys peppers, that is gardiniera.I'm not Italian enough to eat gardiniera
dear lord, it's been years since i've had a good muffuletta.Just do what the rest of us do. Watch the Sopranos or Scarface and you become and honorary one. If you ever heard people rave over potbellys peppers, that is gardiniera.
what was your temp? veggies need super high temps.I think I should have blanched the cauliflower first. They came out pickled nicely but they still have that completely raw texture. I wanted them a little softer.
I did a quick pickle. I just threw the raw cauliflower in a bag with the pickling liquid, vacuumed it and let it pickle for about 6 hours. I did it raw at the behest of one Abefroman. He is not to be trusted!what was your temp? veggies need super high temps.
