Part of the sous vide appeal is the simplicity of it. This seems like a damn waste of time.
Twenty minutes of prep allowing you to "warm" the bird for an hour on the day of.

This allows you to time it precisely instead of putting the turkey in at 4 AM with a ton of guesswork on when it will be ready exactly while trying to get everything else and their cook time to match it.

Yeah this is the most optimal use of time.

Yep, turkey is about the blandest meat you can possibly find. I wouldn't care for it at all if it wasn't necessary for the flavoring of the stuffing.
I don't think it's bland at all. It tastes like turkey, it isn't strong but it tastes distinct. The skin tastes great, crunchy and fatty.Especially if you rub it down with seasonings, herbs, and garlic.

Stuffing, I don't get. I always call it stuffing, but really I mean dressing. Which I've started cooking in muffin tins because it makes it more crunchy. When it's wet from being inside the bird, I want to gag. wet bread. Yuck.

And you have to dry out your turkey in order to make sure you don't get diseased from under cooked stuffing!

I bet chaos you are happy to not be gluten free this year!

wtf? Turkey is delicious, are you guys thinking of the gobblygoop of sub-par cold cut turkey? Chaos is describing great roasted turkey, especially that skin.

Bro, no words. Gluten free food should be given to prisoners as punishment.

I just think every other bird I've eaten tastes better than turkey. It's not that turkey tastes bad.

Cold Cut turkey is far better than any cooked whole bird I've ever had. Boar's Head Cracked Pepper Mill Smoked Turkey Breast is where it's at. But I only eat it once a year and my mom cooks it, and over the years I've realized my mother isn't a very good cook.

There's only ONE way to make turkey IMO and I've been doing it for years. Comes out perfect every single time. I HIGHLY recommend it to you all.

I've never understood the appeal of turkey, unless it's just a place to put stuffing. And I'm perfectly happy just skipping the turkey, cooking it as dressing in the oven by itself and cooking a ham instead.

It's only 4 days until Turkey Argument 2015
For me personally a big part of Thanksgiving is turkey. Growing up we always sat down to turkey dinners. It would be like doing Christmas with out a tree. Sure its Christmas but it's just not the same. We always did turkey for Thanksgiving and a ham for Christmas.

That being said I am not going home for Thanksgiving this year so we are grilling steaks.

Also i seriously love turkey sandwiches for the next week.

With ham you can do sandwiches or fry it with some butter and brown sugar for breakfast with an egg.
