It's wicked hard to get in the US. I have a Polish friend and she periodically gets care packages from family back home, and it usually includes some of this cheese. I've tried it, just a little, but haven't cooked with it or anything. I found it somewhat bland and salty. Not bad, just not remarkable. Perhaps I had a bad one.

Looks like there’s a polish deli about 30 minutes from me, don’t go that way often though. Will try to keep it in mind.

Most lasagna is terrible. No bechamel, no flavor from spices/seasoning. Its just a bastardized "lasagna" with meat, marinara and mozzarella

I do like my Grandma did. Layer in some sauteed hot italian sausage, and polish sausage. Yeah, you heard me right, fucking thin sliced Kielbasa. Might sound gross to some of you. but, damn does it taste good. Also for the "Ricotta" layer I always make some spinach/artichoke dip, you know the hot stuff? Yeah make a batch of this and let it bake as the top layer.

Just make a bolognese and shred mozzarella on top. Why go through all the extra effort and hassle of a lasagna if you aren't going to use bechamel, other cheeses, and layers of herbs and spices?

Lasagna is like pizza, it is pretty wide open as to what you want to put in it. Everyone is going to have their favorite combinations. Most of them will still taste pretty damn good.

No, they won't. That's the point. Most pizza is... not very good. Most lasagna is... not very good. There are a plethora of other easy things to make I'd rather eat in most cases. Like a steak, or a center cut pork chop.

Do it right or don't do it all. I'd rather eat taco bell than most mom and pop pizza.

I’m with you until Taco Bell, I’ll take average non-chain pizza every time. TB is garbage, IMO.

I bought some cottage cheese last week since the old lady wanted me to order some. They didn't have her usual favorite (Prairie Farms) and sent Daisy instead. Typical woman, it is unacceptable and a replacement must be ordered. Being waste adverse, I now feel obligated to use or eat the inferior curds. Me being me, I decide I will punish everyone and make what is sure to be a big hit on the forum and post the results.
