Drops are better/higher quality in higher difficulties (and more heroes spawn, which means more loots drops as well). But staying in Normal to level/farm totems and/or push SR is the fastest and easiest way to gear and get blueprints on a fresh playthrough until your resists/defenses are good for Ultimate.

Any of this guys build guides will work for you:

He also does full playthrough series like the one above. He plays HC so the builds are beefy (always follow build guides from HC when learning a game, even if you play SC in my opinion)

Thanks again, I've been playing his shaman build more or less and it's been pretty fun. Primal Strike (and storm totems are nice) is my only attack and it's brain dead simple which is a nice departure from last time I tried an Arcanist (as a noob) which was 10x the work but I was constantly running from stuff. Shaman alone with decent resists I can facetank almost everything and the AoE damage output is great too.

Yeah, shaman plus just about anything makes for a pretty tanky build. I just built out a vitality conjurer and it's basically immortal. Really fun though. I love the totems.

Oh that's neat, reusing the campaign stuff is a nice way to make content without actually making content, but the altar thing and the fact it's moddable is the big thing, people might end up doing pretty interesting stuff with that system.

They need to hurry up and make the next installment of this game, Grim Dawn 2, or whatever they will call it. Just goes to show how much the devs love this game. Free updates all the time, expansions, 8 yrs of content....Great developer and great game.

That it is. My only gripe with it is that I've never been a fan of zombies and shit, so the setting is not up to my tastes, but everything else is great. But I do agree that I hope for a GD2 at some point.

My hope is that if and when it happens they will incorporate some of the GrimTools and other mods into the base game. Firstly, more storage. I've never understood why games who's main purpose is looting have such little storage forcing people to install third party mods to increase it. Secondly, I'd love to see a database feature in the game listing all monsters, weapons and equipment. Only, you can have it all greyed out at first. Once you kill a monster it becomes visible, and whatever loot it dropped is also visible. If more loot is in it's table, it remains hidden til dropped. Once you've run the game a few times you should have it mostly fleshed out, but if not, you know where to farm. I'd also love a system where if an item has a stat range, if you were to, say, hold CTRL it would show the stat range or even colorise the stat number, green being toward the high spectrum, yellow for mid-range, and red for low range. You could then easily see if the piece that dropped had shit stats or not.

Well, I guess one can dream...

That alter system is simple, easy to understand, and exactly the kind of target farming "smart loot" system that players actually want. Because players can control it.

Most of the systems in Grim Dawn are like that. The developers at Crate are just much better at not being stuck up their own ass, so they create systems that are both interesting AND fun.

The storage system is my biggest gripe. The main dev who made the decision has no self control with hoarding so made it small on purpose. Wish they would just put in the database solution the players came up with, where you can’t see the items til you search.

According to Rektbyprotoss they are going to make Grim Dawn 2 but it will be "next decade" because they have to create a new engine from scratch for it first.

Super stoked about the new expansion info. This is only the first real info we have gotten and if there is still a lot more to come it's gonna be a blast. Between Factorio this fall and Grim Dawn next year I will be busy for a while.
